Hi I just acquired the Parker 16 in question. I would like to know if Vent Rib is correct as well as the pad. Here is a description and some pictures I hope.

Barrels 27 15/16 inches, length of pull 13 1/2. Chokes seem tight putting a patch thru. Most of the blue is on the barrels and no stock cracks, just a couple of gouges that might look like scratches.

Here come the pictures. Please estimate value and what grade it is. Thanks

I have more pictures if that is helpful. I cannot find any markings on the rib and the pad is a White Line marked Pat Pending.

Number is not in book so we will need a lot better pictures of top rib and markings on rib.

There are no marks at all on the rib. It looks like it is slid over the posts and pinned near the receiver. Sounds like it is after market. Can you tell me the grade and approimate value as it is?

ok - I am not trying to be wise - but that is an odd barrel length- are you maybe pulling a tape too tight, one where the end tab rivets are worn? unless some one tried to cut t0 28" and missed.

the checkered panels may well hide a dowell covering a fix of a crack, not un common.

but it seems like a nice find.

Gary,

Okay, thanks for the photos. How long are the choke constrictions?

I will remeasure the barrels and take some more pics. What do you want to see the most.

Simmons made or makes a rib that is mounted on top of the original rib. The rib posts don't look like Simmons but they are surely aftermarket. They look more like Moneymaker rib posts. To try to remove this nice rib to restore originality may be opening a can of worms. Don't worry about the barrel length. Just measure the chokes and bores

Here are some more pictures. I think the chokes are about 1 1/4 long. I measure them at .633 to .637 with various devices but both seem to be the same. I believe Simmons marked the side of their ribs with their name. I do not see any markings on the Vent Rib and also cannot see any under the rib between the posts so the Parker Bros may be marked under the receiver end of the vent rib.

The pad as I mentioned has Pat applied for and Patent Pending so it is a pretty old White Line. There also is no sign of any cracks emanating from the receiver into the stock. Maybe the extra checkering was ordered that way. The barrel measures a little shorter with a yardstick.

None of this is really important except for my edification. I will never sell this gun, when I hold it I feel like Nash Buckingham or Chas Askins.

Thank you for all your information.

The one photo in your second batch looks as if the rib matting goes all the way over the dolls head. I do not think that is correct. Also, the rib does not look to ramp up quick enough for a factory Parker Vent rib. The posts also look a bit fat. I wouls suspect it to be an addition.

And it looks as if the barrels have been reblued due to the locking lug being blued.

The checkered side panels should also be suspect on a V grade.

We have seen checkered stock panels ordered on lower grade guns. I have a D grade stock that was factory fitted to a P grade gun and the D stock was ordered with checkered panels. Those panels on Gary's new gun look very factory to me.

We still need better pictures of the rib taken from the top so it can be seen in detail, at both ends.
