What is the purpose or meaning of the small brass medallion on the bottom of my Parker 10 Gauge? Is it for the owner to engrave his or her initials in it? Mine has none and I wouldn't feel comfortable engraving mine. Please advise. Since my Parker is 52 and a half inches long, do you know who sells a soft case that will fit my Parker?

as for the initials - ew seeemed to get used, but if you're going to keep the gun - why not?

The shield or medallion would be used for engraving whatever the original owner wanted on it. Name, Saying, etc... Most, especially on lower grades, did not have anything put on them at the factory.

Thanks. Exactly what I thought as to the shield / medallion. Also thanks for the soft case info...I think it will work just fine.
