changes from parker to remington parker?

have a chance to buy a ghe grade 12ga number 2 frame remington parker. what were the changes from the eariler guns? then main thing that i notice is a stamp under the barrels that say parker gun works.

During the Remington era of Parker shotguns the 1 1/2 frame was the most commonly used frame for 12 gauge guns.

the area on barrel lug says it is a 1 1/2 frame, but the frame has a number 2 under the serial number. the serail number is in the 237,000 range. all the serial numbers match. the guns barrels and trigger gaurd have been reblued, but it is an pretty good job, and the wood has been varnished. they want 2,500 for it and i think it is a good deal. the stamp on the bottom of the barrels has a stamp my older parker doesnt have. it says parker gun works. where the remington parkers still made in the parker plant in c.t.?

237000 range makes it a 1935 manufacture. Remington did not move to Ilion, NY until 1938.

The 2 stamped on the water table identifies your Parker as a Grade 2. The only place the frame size is stamped is on the barrel lug.

Remington bought the Parker Gun Works in January of 1934 so Parker shotguns continued to be made by Remington in the Connecticut factory until the move to Ilion in '38.

At that time (1935), being right after the Remington takeover, there would not have been many (if any) changes in the guns themselves. These guns were still made in Meriden. And since the same people were making them at the same location, just under new management, nothing would have really changed. All I could think of is that they might have been marking the "PARKER" on the bottom of the receivers at this time since Remington did not have the rights to the "PARKER BROS." name in full.
Maybe others could confirm if the change in receiver markings was done in the Remington/Meriden years.

The other significant Remington changes in marking/appearance such as the unmarked barrels, fatter wood and different grip caps would have come after the 1937 move to Illion.
