New hammer 12 ga

Below are photos of a 12 ga hammer gun I recently purchased. Not a beauty queen but what I call an honest survivor. Doubt the gun has ever been messed with. Stock dims are per the letter, 30" twist barrels, chokes are F/F. Bores (.750) do have some pitting but it shoots great with light 7/8 oz loads. Stock was really nasty so I cleaned it and now looks a lot better.

Oskar, Nice old gun! Your lucky nobody has took sandpaper to it. Is that number one Parker for you? If so you did great. My first one was a hammer gun and I didn't no anything never heard of PGCA and it had everything wrong with it except the barrells arn't cut. It's been at the smith for awhile.

Yes this is Parker #1 for me. I've considered refinishing the wood and barrels but it's only original once and for now I'm leaving it as is.

Nice gun, must be on a 1 frame to get that light of weight. 7 lb, 12 guage hammer gun is probably a little hard to find. Congrats. Dave

Yes the gun is a 1 frame. Weighs 7 lbs 5 oz on my scales. The 13 1/2 LOP worried me as my other guns are 14-14 1/2 but actually is not bad once I adjust to the shorter length.

Anyone have info on Hermann Baker and Co of New York?

I kinda like a few smaller LOP's around. I use a slip on rubber pad when wearing a T shirt and take pad off when wearing a coat. I have a 30 inch, 1 frame hammer that I really enjoy. It weighs 7-8. Dave

That is a nice gun, Mike! Careful disassembly and cleaning with Hoppe's No. 9, bronze wool and brass toothbrushes will reveal a lot! The wood looks like it could use a good cleaning, but I certainly would keep sandpaper away from it! Enjoy!

I just recently bought what looks to be the same gun, and as a new member here, and it being my first, I could use help in learning it's value and history. Could anyone give me the info I need to post here, in order to get a true clue? Sadly, the local gun shop owners, although obviously interested in buying it cheap, are also a little shy as per what I have. The origin of the above letter, could someone please post the address of inquiry for Parker?

Your Parker looks like a nice, unmolested gun with a century of grime that is easily cleaned. Go slow and be careful what you use on it - it is too nice of a Parker to devalue it by doing the wrong things to it.
