Recently I purchased a GH grade 8 gauge. I would like to know how many of the 8 gauge guns were made in any grade?
Thanks, Tom

Tom: I don't know the number but the only one that I have ever owned was a GH Grade SN 141713 with 32 inch barrels that I sold in 2007 for $9,000.

Best Regards, George

Actually, I believe The Parker Story documents about 381 8 gauges. They are the rarest of all the "regular" gauges--8, 10, 12, 16, 20, 28, and .410. I personally believe that the true number is slightly more than 400 as I have seen a fair number of original eight gauge Parkers that are not listed in the books. I have studied the 8s for a number of years and have owned 4. I currently own 2--a 34" six frame hammer in grade 1 and a 36" six frame PH. Good luck with yours. Bill

As you probably know the TPS number of 381 is statistically adjusted number to account for the guns in the missing record books so it follows one would see guns not listed in the TPS 8 gauge list or in Serialization. As the banning of the 8 in 1918 virtually ended their (even then) limited production in the USA, I would suspect the number quoted is even closer than many of the estimated model variation totals. In any case, they are rare, I have owned 2 Parker 8s, a 36 #6 fT1 frame and a 36" D3 #6 DH I picked up at this year's Vintagers. The later gun went to its original owner in Glasco, NY right on the west bank of the Hudson. I imagine it must have seen its share of waterfowl on the pass over the great river.

Don sorry I missed you and Russ at the Vintagers and even more sorry that I got there on Friday morning instead of Thursday because I was looking for a D grade 8 ga damascus and you snapped it up before I even had a chance.:crying:...... Eric

Eric-sorry we missed you too. The DH 8 sat there all morning on Thursday. I finally went for it about 1 p.m. when I managed to grind down the silly asking price by 30%!

That's true Don you do, but I really wanted to find a D grade 8 bore damascus to go along with the D 8 ga fluid steel. And yeah I have Jerry grief about it since another one of our members told him he should put it under table since he knew I was looking for one. Well if you ever get around to selling it you know who to call  Eric

Don,
I met you some time ago regarding either a Fox gun or parts. I would like to speak to you. Any chance you will go to Valley forge show?
