I am needing some info for a article on 20ga guns produced in America. This is known.
First Parker 1874
First Fox 1911
First Baker ?
First Smith 1907 ?
First Lefever ?
First Ithaca ?
Any other American Mfg ?

Thank You, any info will be greatly appreciated, I am sort of running into a wall on this.

Josh or his Dad should be able to tell you about the Lefever. Send him a pm

Maynard made and offered replacement 20ga barrels for their rifles and they cataloged purpose made complete single shot shotguns as well. The 20ga barrels which drop easily into their 1882 actions were the culmination of their design and marketing scheme of offering shotgun barrels for their rifle system which began before the Civil War with their external percussion ignition models. See the mention and illustration of Maynard style externally primed cartridge shell in TPS.

Remington made their No. 2 Rolling Block shotgun in 20-gauge from 1875 to 1892. Baker 20-gauges weren't introduced until after they sold the gun business to H & D Folsom Arms Co. in 1919. Snieder in Baltimore made a few 20-gauge doubles, but I don't know what year he made his first one. Maybe Daryl Hallquist or Dr. McPhail can answer that one.
