DH new project

Saw Brian's post on the PH of many #'s. Thought all might get a kick out of yet another project I hope to live long enough to finish. Bought a DH empty action with a broken trigger plate the other day, have several parts guns for the small parts and a set of damascus bbls that are good enough to shoot. It's going to have several #'s for sure. Still have wood bought through the years. If I get it done will be a fun gun. Think I'll put in the "when the time comes" file that if the gun isn't completed my wife is to send the parts to Brian, he is young enough to finish it.

interesting project...it is my understanding that it is quite difficult to fit misc. parts to a parker action...hoping for your success...

Hey, John, can you either post a picture or explain the "broken trigger plate". We have been through abused, hammer marked, and bent trigger plates, but we want to see your broken trigger plate.

Bill, the break is obvious in his first picture. Looks like it was broken at the first screw hole on the bottom tang or rear part of the floor plate.

Bill, The plate was broke when I bought the action. I'll bet someone didn't take the top tang screw out and tried to pry off the trigger plate. Broke through the little hole that the trigger lift spring screw goes in. Will cut it off in front of the screw hole and cut one from another plate and weld on, thus saving the origional plate with the engraving matching the action. Got the release lever but no forend, get it all together have a local gun that can engrave the forend iron to match D grade engraving. Just need time and energy. Regards, John Hancock

Yeah, case hardened plates cannot take too much bending before they break.
