Has anyone tried out or have knowledge of this product and it's application as a Non Toxic reload option for our Vintage Doubles?

www.ecotungsten.com

Their ad has a Charlie Parker Damascus sweetheart laying right along side their product so it must be good !

Thanks,
Brad

Yes Brad, I have loaded it in the Ten and the Twelve. Another name for it is Nice Shot, it loads the same as lead or you can use the same data. I like everything about it except the price.

As Brother Fabian said, it is an excellent, if somewhat $$$, product. I watched quite a few ducks fall to it in factory shells and handloads last week in Quebec.

No doubt it's a bit pricey but if my Kentucky Ciphering is accurate it looks about $2.08 per 1oz load vs $3.00 per for the 16ga. 1oz hevi -shot.

If you guy's have seen good results it might be worth trying out some Pheasant loads this year.

I too reload it in #5 for ducks (I only use 7/8 oz and it works great!). Good product.

1 1/4 oz works too!

While I have not tried ecotungsten, I just loaded up some ITX shot from Ballistic Products. I like the looks of it and think it'll be a good alternative. I'll be giving it a go on Ducks here in MN real soon.

Bob, I would like to hear what you think of the ITX, I want to try it in the future.

Brad,

RST has Nice Shot loads. One of the things they have found is that a lighter load ie: 1 1/4 oz in a 10 gauge or 1 oz in a 12 gauge etc gives the best preformance. As noted on the producers web site, nice shot will give a slight jump in pressure. If you are reloading low pressure shells there should be no problems.

The ITX is not as dense as I would like. But, for the price, it works just fine. I shot through about 7lbs of #4 last fall and it really smacked the birds. I even shot a few canada geese last fall and some snows with the #4 in the spring. You can load up a 1 oz 12 ga load and it will have pretty much the same number of pellets as a 1 1/4 oz #4 lead load. I just stuffed some into some short 16ga shells and I am only able to get about 3/4 oz of shot into a Remington SP16 wad that is supposed to handle 1 1/8 oz of lead shot. 3/4oz of #4 ITX has really close to the number of pellets as 1 oz of lead #4. That would put it at about 75-80 % the density of lead. Still a lot better than steel shot....

Good luck this season

I'm anxious to try it out as well. I loaded up a light payload for starters as I'm strictly shooting over decoys. It's 12ga. 2 3/4" 1oz. #6 ITX. The recipe says about 9200 for pressure so not low but probably lower than the Kent Matrix 1 1/4oz #3's that I had been shooting. About a year ago when the price of Matrix shot up to over $3.00 a round I cam across 22 boxes of #3's at the old price of $17.00 so I figured I'd better scarf them up. I prefer more pellets in the air though :)
