This past Saturday I attended the 7th Annual East Coast Fine Arms Show in Stamford, Ct. Dave Suponski, Dean Roming, Larry Frey and Tom Wooden had the fantastic Parker Display tables set up to showcase the Parker Collectors Association. A wonderful day was had by all and is chronicled in the “Shows, Events and Conventions” thread for all to read. As a “new” member of the Association and never having met anyone at the table, I was not only made to feel welcome by everyone, but Dean and Dave went out of their way to help me find a great 1928 Parker 16 Gauge PHE with 26” Parker Steel Barrels choked about LT Mod/Imp Mod, on a #1 frame. The serial # is 226,246, and it is in the book. Here are some pictures of my “new” Parker that I will be getting a letter on. Thanks guys.

Steve, Thank You for the kind words. And I am sure I can speak for the rest of the guys that we really enjoyed spending time with you at the show. After all that is what this is all about. I was so very happy that you found that great gun. No excuses now my friend....:rotf: But lets not forget that wonderful Morris Baker who handed you some RST shells for the new gun. I think during the course of 3 days Morris must have given away 3 cases of shells. A wonderful man of the highest order....and a good business man....what a great guy!!!

..., and my wife didn't "out shop" me:rotf:

When you have been married for many decades, being "out shopped" becomes a bit like "battles and the war". That lovely gun may be a battle won for you but on the scale of the war (if you keep count), I'll guess your good wife will have you "out shopped" - maybe even just with a shoe collection. And if you happen to be way ahead, feel free to share the secret.

Cheers,
Jack

Hey Charlie, you have 1,536 posts here over 2 1/2 years. Why don't you join the PGCA?

You can get it done in less time than it takes to think about it.

So Bruce,You were just commenting on another thread that the statements made there had nothing to do with Parker shotguns. With that in mind couldn't you have PM'd Charlie with your concerns in private? Or is it more important to embarass the man in public? When Charlie is ready to join he will do so and I hope it will done because he wants to a part of this group and not out of pressure.

Now back to Parker guns and events.....:)

Subtle general and pointed private suggestions have had no effect.

Sorry Charlie, this thread reminds me of my 2nd day working for the state when the SIEU representative came to visit me to make sure I joined the union of my own free will.

I have enjoyed many of your comments and input. There is room for everyone here (or there should be) whether PGCA member or Forum member.

Gentlemen,

I have read this thread and I do not see where Mr. Day has done anything wrong. None of this would exist without the folks who volunteer their time to support this group and the members that pay for memberships. Mr. Day has done extraordinary volunteer work for the PGCA over the years and he should be thanked for that.

Asking folks who have interest in these guns and folks that are using our website to join is only good business sense where I come from.

I am hopeful that other members will ask our forum members to join our organization. It is a fine group and worthy of membership. Certainly the $40 dues is a bargain.

I have a hard time accepting that a responsible and long term PGCA member and /or a member of the board who has the best interests of the association in heart would not strongly urge long time and multiple posts forum members to join the association. We are a business that lives on membership, dues, and creating interests in Parkers. To my thinking, building membership and participating in annual directors meetings are key responsibilities of a director.

Why buy the cow if you can get the milk for free?

Stephen your 16ga PHE is exceptional and should be a great NH Pheasant and Grouse getter.

Well I agree with everything Dave has said. Why are we trying to force members of this board (or rub thier noses in it:banghead:) to join the PGCA, if they want to that is great and if they don't that is their choice (some people may not be able to afford it but still want to participate). To say what you said Bruce was not for an open forum.:cuss: and you owe someone an apology!

Bruce Day

I'd love to see Charlie as a PGCA member. He'd make a good one.

Some time back we had a 30ish young woman with a badly rusted C 16 come on here with photos of herself and her beyond repair gun. It was a wildly popular thread and people paid for her to become a PGCA member. We haven't seen her since.

So I figured the least I could do would be to pay half for Charlie. Now I doubt he is as attractive as that young woman, and I wouldn't think that has anything to do with it.

So I am sending in today to Mary Bowes $20 for the Charlie PGCA fund. All you fellows have to do is match it. Eric? Chris?

Bruce just drop it....this is not where you need to vent :banghead: You want to pm me or phone me (you have the number) but take it off the forum. Eric

No Eric, Dee had two posts in a single thread and people paid for her. Charlie has a lot more in many threads and I am paying half for him. Care to belly up?

Like "NHUNTER", the original poster of this thread, I would also like to thank Dave Suponski, Dean Romig, Larry Frey, and Tom Wooden for being great PGCA ambassadors and representing our Parker club at the recent Stamford event... It's good to know we have knowledgeable gentlemen like yourselves who assist new members with questions and guidance when purchasing a fine shotgun...

Stephen, looks like you found a nice PHE 16, congrats and enjoy your newly acquired Parker...

Best, CSL

I finally got around to reading the 3 1/3 page article by Calvin Hamburg and Charlie Cleveland "A Kansas Hunt" in the summer 2011 Parker Pages. A very nice story, you guys obviously had a great time.

And at the end of the day, the combatants, exhausted from battle, with no winner declared dropped there weapons, shook hands and were better men for doing so!

And I don't think anybody has yet to come forward and match the $20 I sent Mary to pay for Charlie's membership. Come on guys, its down to less than half the price of a tank of gas ( not your bus, Gary) . And if a person can't afford $20, how about four of you at $5 each?

Eric Eis

Bruce, can't you just leave this f..king thread alone. Oh and by the way I did sponser a Jr. member This conversation should not be on an open forum, like I said before give me a call or pm me but take this someplace else.:banghead:

If not $20, and not $5, then maybe $1 for Charlie? Eric?
