It's that time - and I can tell you - this will be one of the most difficult votes that you will have to cast :) From this thread:
http://parkerguns.org/forums/showthread.php?t=5531
We need to choose the young man or woman who will win a PGCA Membership and a $100 Gift Certificate to the Kittery Trading Post (http://ktp.com)
To each and all the entrants - you young folks are what the future of this organization is all about. And for that - all of you will be receiving a complementary PGCA Membership (I haven't asked permission from the BOD for this "unscheduled announcement" - so, rather - I'll beg forgiveness... ;) )
Anyway - here are the entries for this competition... And yes - when I post the poll - you can vote for each and all of them, as they are all "winners" (as are the folks who submitted the pictures).
With my thanks,
John

I voted for #4 as he is the only one not pictured with a double gun. If he wins he may think Parkers and the PGCA are so cool he has to have one and join :)

I vote for #2. It fills to categories. A young shooter and a female. Besides, she looks cool in her stance.

Somehow, John - I think you and I are cut from the same bolt of cloth. Thank you so very much! I'll cover two of these young memberships as well , and along with your support - all are covered.
John, with my sincerest thanks ...
You Sir, just did an amazing thing...
Thank you... More than you may know - but I suspect you do....

Hi Angel and John,
You two are what the PGCA should be - and will be - all about. In private - and NEVER quote me, OK???
But - I called Mary Bowes - the "PGCA Membership Mary" ;) - and told her what I was doing. We have her entire support. So it looks like with John, Angel, Mary and myself - we'll get all these young folks signed up as PGCA Members. What Mary and I al chatted about is that each young person will get a welcome letter, a Laminated Membership Card designating them as a "Special Member", a Certificate, etc...
John & Angel... These young folks are our future. And like you two guys - I'll also Sponsor any of them for their Membership.
Like you - in my world - it is simply the "right thing to do"...
Thank you guys so very much.... More than you may know...
But - I suspect you do know...

OK, Let's keep this thing going... no reason to end it here. I think others of us would like to sponsor a young person for a 'Special Membership' in the PGCA... I know I will.

Your welcome John!! I'm happy to do it.

Without the buy in and blessing of the #2's of the world, numbers 1, 3, 4, & 5 don't stand a chance. We need all the young shooters we can get and we especially need young ladies.
I'll sponsor one. Where do I send the check?
Larry

Larry....
You and Dean are wonderful... Thank you!!! OK - here is what I'm thinking.... Please DO send a check to our own PGCA Membership. Her name is Mary Bowes and her address is:
Mary Bowes
PGCA Membership
477 Ocean Avenue
Wells, Maine 04090
Now - on your checks - in the MEMO area, or add as a cover note - please designate your check for "Sponsored Youth Membership"....
So - we'll get all of these young folks covered, and Mary - as the PGCA Membership, will accrue these for other young shooters who are nominated (I'll put up a post for those after this contest, OK?)
So far - without any official word of support - we have:
John T. - sponsoring two young folks;
John D. - sponsoring two young folks and the winner;
Angel - another;
Dean - another;
Daryl - another;
Jeff K. - another;
Eric - another;
Larry - yet another...
Gentlemen... I think we are investing in our own future within the confines of this organization.
For that - you have my (and our Membership) collective thanks....
If there are any other supporters - please post in this thread... You might be surprised at what happens for your own recognition over the next few days...
My sincerest thanks - and to the newest PGCA Youth Members..??
WELCOME!!!
John D.

I voted for #3, as that dude is in dire need of some proper hunting attire! Sponsoring my own two boys for now, ages 13 and 16. Here's the youngest collecting some raw ingredients for his school lunch with a shooter-class CHE. Not too many kids take BBQ squirrel sandwiches to lunch, it seems...

Wow. What a great thread! When I look back at my time on the PGCA Board 30 years from now, if we havent done a good job with attracting more young people, I'll probably wonder if all of this was a worthwhile endeavor for me.
Threads like this and folks like John, John, Larry, Dean, and Angel really make a statement about their true intent. I am really proud of you guys for these self-less acts.

OK- I could'nt bring myself to vote for just one so I voted for all 5. I'll be sending a check to Mary forthwith. I thought enough of this organization to become a Life Member so this is my way of giving something back. Happy New Year and welcome to our 5 newest members.

Hope he has a strong set of choppers. Those critters are known to be a "little" tough.
Mr. Williams, there are a number of us here in central Virginia who are PGCA members and shoot regularly at either Old Forge in Providence Forge, or Central Va. Sporting Clays in Palmyra. You need to come and bring out your boys. The Virginia Vintagers also have a number of shoots throughout the year.

Hey, Ed B.
I'd love to bring the boys out for a shoot, if I can drag them away from school sports and games. Older son's school has a full skeet range, but the shooting season conflicts with his soccer games. Maybe his priorities will change.
And yes, squirrels can be chewy if not parboiled or marinated. These were living along a tree-lined farm road that runs through corn and soybeans, so they were fat and fairly tender. #2 son only lost one tooth on the squirrel sandwich, and it was a loose one anyway.

Count me in also as a sponsor, just let me know who I get to sponsor (so if anyone has an idea let me know). I think this is a great idea. Eric

Jeff & Eric...
You two, too (that does sound strange, albeit - grammatically correct?? ;) ) are outstanding.. As well, when you have a moment, if you pop a check into the mail to Mary - she is set to go with the Youth Memberships.. What will happen, is that all the Youth Membership Numbers will end in a "Y" so, for example - 4567Y. That way we can track who are the Youth Members. If we have more sponsors for these young kids then we have young people - that's fine, too...
As the BOD is discussing a few things (as they should on this idea) - I'll announce how all this fits together....
Gents - you folks are wonderful....
Thank you so very much!

John,
What's the amount we should send? $45.00? Sorry if that's a dumb question but it's been a while since I've submitted yearly dues. BTW- You are just wonderful in all that you have done for this organization. Thank you, Mary and the BOD for our success.

Don't feel too bad Peter. I'm sure the great BOD or John D will make an exception and allow a late entry. What a great picture. He even use one glove like one of our members...
See, you already have a sponsor!!!

Peter,
That young man has great form. What is he doing April 27th and 28th? I'm thinking team Parker could use him at the Southern SxS this year.

Are you guys serious about sponsoring him as a PGCA member? If so that is over the top kindness. He is keen shot and likes the SxSs. That is my 28 repro in the photo. We had a turkey shoot locally before Christmas and he did quite well with my 12 repro while I held my own with a VHE. We both missed out by one bird a couple of times but he was shooting against men that shoot a lot of registered targets and I was shooting against a top lady shooter. We are not big collectors but have several SxSs.

Mr. Clark,
Welcome to the forum. I noticed you yourself have not yet joined the PGCA. You should consider joining the group. It's a great group and the member benefits are worth far more than the $40 membership fee. I do hope you will join.

OK guys. I have sent a pay-pal payment to John D for my membership so now both Wyatt and I are members. Our collection is meager but then we also have a lot of other interests. Wyatt also wants to get into BPCR shooting and we just got him/us an additional "Parker priced" horse.
Eric, please send me a personal note with your contact info so Wyatt may send you a thank you note. That is how he has been raised.
Many thanks to all,
-plc-
