Does anyone know anything about Al Rheil of Remington Arms? I traded for a cased skeet gun that looks to be presented to him. Does anyone know if Remington presented guns to employees as gifts or for long years of service at retirement?

Yes they did.

Perhaps Art Wheaton or Ken Waite II will elaborate on this subject as they both were in management at Remington.

Would you care to share pictures of your Parker with us?

Gregg :

Google the following and you will find your answer .

" Al RIEHL Remington Arms "

He was before Art Wheaton and Ken Waite , but they may know of him because they both shot for Remington . Riehl died in 1980 .

Gregg, In the late Dick Baldwin's wonderful book "A Road To Yesterday" starting on page 67 there is a whole chapter on Mr. Al Riehl. This a great book and I highly recommend it.

Ditto Dave's comment on A Road To Yesterday. I gifted my signed copy to a very good friend and Mr. Baldwin passed away before I could reorder.

They are being sold on trapshooters.com and ebay. His daughter is selling them. On ebay, she is offering two copies for $50, down from $30 each. It is a great book. Dick was a good friend and contributed greatly to my Remington-Parker research collection as well as my NSSA collection.

Agree 100% with the above recommendations concerning Baldwin's book, a wealth of research with great informative history, money well spent... Dick was a very fine writer who left the reader wanting more and looking forward to the next page... His daughter is a very nice gal and I recommend folks buy this book from her if possible, item number on e-bay is 110776262320...

Susan Sturdevant, Dick's daughter, provided me with much of the research material I use to investigate the shooting records of early twentieth century shooters.

Murph,
I was fortunate to obtain a few interesting items from Dick's collection as well... The early photo in the beginning of his book where Dick is standing next to his father as a young boy holding a Parker single barrel trap would be a great image to consider for future display on the PGCA home page... Perhaps Susan would grant us permission to do so. Just a suggestion...;)

Thanks for all the information on Al. You guys sure know Parker history. Thanks too for all the offers to buy the gun. It really wasn't for sale but the one was too good to pass up and the gun is now sold.

I would have paid more. At least I won't be accused of using my PM to buy guns. (not that there is anything wrong with that). Congratulations to the new owner. I may even know who you are.
