The Amoskeag Auction Company has put an ad in the upcoming winter issue of Parker Pages to let our members know about some very nice Parkers that will be available in their auction this Saturday November 19th. Unfortunately due to some delays some members may not receive their copy in time so I wanted to post it here on our website so that anyone who might be interested would have a chance to check them out. Their website can be found at http://www.amoskeagauction.com/86/auction86T.html.

A minty .410 VHE & a very nice 20 bore CH. Starting prices seem a bit high though.

Oh my! It would be good day to be wealthy! I could spend some serious money on that auction.

BTW: I don't see any prices. Just pics. What am I missing??

George,

Those prices are nothing compared to how I see you price stuff. *chuckles*

Destry: (aka Falstaff, aka Chuckles) You seem to have a large problem with how I price the guns that I wish to sell, however, I've never seen the pricing on any gun that you were selling. I wonder why? Do you only bottom feed for the "clunkers" or would you ever seriously entertain the purchase of a really fine gun. I try to price the guns that I wish to sell fairly, perhaps sometimes a bit on the high side, but I am always open to offers and am willing to negotiate. I'm sorry, but I have never seen what I call a positive post from you and that's a shame. You obviously are somewhat knowledgeable about Parkers.

Best Regards, George

Thanks. That worked. I looked at them all. It's settled.... I couldn't make enough money in the rest of my life to pay for what I'd like to have from just this auction!

Yup, the field grade Parker .410 sold for thirty large plus 17.5% buyer's premium. Everything else that I would have bid on went higher than I would have paid. This is good news as far as I am concerned. The market for serious guns is not affected by the present economy. Only junk is depressed. Junk is for shooting and it should be priced for the masses. Welcome to the real world where young and poor people interested in side by sides can fill their gun cabinets with great guns for little money.

George,

I've got a few good ones, some of the boys on the forum have seen them. I've sold a few good ones too, but it's usually been to friends so they didn't appear on a public venue. Best of luck to you.....

Some of the estimates seemed high to me, but I am out of touch with reality, according to my wife. Others seemed quite reasonable. In fact, #254 and #256 seemed low.
Artfact is a hard one to get final results from unless you're a subscriber. Amoskeag has a good reputation and if this auction finishes up like many recent ones, I'd be surprised if they were too far off the mark between estimates and final hammer prices.

So, how do you get the prices they sold for? I don't see them on the Auction site.

Destry: I'm sure you have some nice Parkers and nice other doubles as well. I'm also sure that you have some friends that you share them with. It has been my policy for quite some time now to invest what little discretionary income that I have in antique guns, primarily side by sides, and land. Since I don't normally get to see the gun in person before I buy it I tend to buy more that I want to keep and put the ones back that I wish to keep and sell the rest. This has worked out well for me since I am way ahead of what I have spent and have a few nice guns put away that have cost me nothing. This, to me, is much better that the 1 or 2 per-cent I would earn on my money at the bank plus I have some nice things to look at at least for a while before they are sold. The biggest plus, however, are the number of friends that I have made by pursuing my hobby, several of whom subscribe to this forum.

I wish you well in your endevours and I would never hold to question your intentions.

Best Regards, George

WOW 31K plus the vig for a gun that sold for less than $100 when new. "If my Daddy had only known!" And they say that we're in a recession!
