I have recently acquired a set of barrels and am trying to place a value to them and or sell them
The rib reads, Parker Bros Markers. Meridian Conn. Peerless Steel
Can anyone tell me about these barrels. I have a couple of Ithaca side by side and am familiar with some guns but I have been all over the net and on the phone with a lot of people that cant make sense as to what grade gun these barrels go to
Thanks Eric

Looks like they're #1 frame and damascus with an unstruck weight of 3#5oz. The last three numbers of the serial number are 855. The entire serial number and grade should be on that barrel flat but it seems someone has removed them. They should be to the right of the 3 and 5. Can you see the damascus pattern on the barrels? Are there any numbers on the side of the barrel lug? They look like they may have even been lined at some point. Try posting some clearer pictures if you can. You'll get the help you need here.

If the rib says "Peerless Steel", the barrels are faked up Damascus, probably sleeved or lined to 20 gauge. Unfortunately, they have no value if this is the case.

They have been sleeved. Too bad.

78855 is a 12ga D2; 178855 is a 16 ga V, probably the source of the stubs.
Bigger question: the "Peerless Steel " is a roll mark; it came from an A, AA or A1 grade gun. There were only about 100 6P, 7P and 8P guns made; and only 2 with 26 inch barrels listed. Who blew a set of Peerless barrels to provide the rib?

Ahh, sleeved. That's the vague ring you can see around the breeches in the first photos. I saw the D on the flats and figured that meant damascus. Can't imagine what one would do with them now. Can't see any value there except maybe the top rib unfortunately.

I am still wondering which and why a Peerless barrel set was broken down for parts.
