Richard,
Go to the www.parkerguns.org main page. On the left are links to other pages, click on Research Letters and on that page you can read the section on Serial Number Search. Click the red "here" and on the page that pops up you can enter your serial number. It will tell you if you can get a letter or not.

Robin Lewis is correct. The information in the Serialization Book is from stock book entries only. The PGCA researcher has order book entries as well as other research material at his disposal.

That had no information on serial #51304 so it looks like they cannot send letter. Is this the last step. Richard Tucker

I'm afraid so. The order book that your gun was entered into is available to the PGCA in copied form, but, apparently, the serial number was not legible. Many scuffed and illegible serial numbers were either read incorrectly by the The Parker Story authors' clerical staff or were missing entirely. At this point, there is nothing that can be done to retrieve the information.

Thanks so much for the helpful information/Bottom line is that I love the oldd gun.I plan to pass it to my son so I was just trying to get as much information as possible to let him know what kind of gun he is getting. Richard Tucker

Guns of Grade 3 (D3) and higher are listed for the serial range 49 - 52000. I think that indicates the order book is missing for that period. Alo, I think the guide is a directory to "found" serial numbers.

Richard: Checking the serialization book I see that SNs 51289 all the way through 52063 (with one exception) are all "D3" or Grade 3 guns with Damascus barrels. That 74 guns! Most are 12 gauge with 28, 30 & 32 inch barrels. All are toplever actions with two exceptions. All, except for one are listed with no extras. The only way to trace the provenance is to try to go back through previous owners. Remember, "The Search is Half the Fun".
Best Regards, George
