Dear Friends and Members of the Parker Gun Collector's Association

The 2011 PGCA Annual Meeting and Banquet will be held on September 10, 2011 and will include, among other exciting features, the much anticipated Silent Auction fundraiser. The Silent Auction has been extremely successful in generating much needed revenue for the PGCA and has included some wonderful donations of auction items from both PGCA Members as well as from businesses that specialize in sporting related products.

Please look around at your accumulations of shooting and sporting equipment for anything you thought you needed but find you can do without. Some of our more talented members who make or repair gun/sporting related items might consider donating some of their products or time. Any and all items will be greatly appreciated by the organization as well as the lucky bidder who claims them. Please contact Dean Romig or Larry Frey and let us know what you would like to donate and thank you, as it is our member’s participation that makes the PGCA the best gun collector’s organization in the world.

I have a box of items donated by Tony Galazan and will catalog it and bring it to Louisville.

I will also donate a few of my own items.

Well the Annual meeting along with the C grade gun display and silent auction is just couple of days away. I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who donated to this years auction/fundraiser. We had many great companies like Orvis, Kittery Trading Post, Galazan, RST, New Era, Blue Book Publications, Hunter Collections, and Down East Publications all making donations. We also received many great items from our members but I won't try to name them all here as I do not yet have a complete list. We will publish that list in the next issue of Parker Pages but for now they know who they are and the PGCA gives them all our thanks.

Some of the items include gun related products like Silvers and Hawkins recoil pads, Hickory cleaning rods, various reloading tools, UMC brass shells and unused paper hulls. There will be a Parker Brothers clock and eye glass case along with a limited edition Parker knife set. There will also be great low pressure ammo in every gage from our friends at RST and New Era. We will once again have a beautifully crafted PGCA granite hot plate from Dave Suponski that was such a big hit last year. There will be gift certificates from sporting stores, too many gun and hunting related books to mention.

That is some of what you can expect but word has it that a very generous member made mention of donating a Parker hammer gun but we will have to wait and see if it shows up. Again thanks to all who contributed and hopefully there will be something for everyone at this years event.

Thanks Larry. I'll be bringing along several items that were shipped to me as well and I'll bring the item I forgot to bring last year.... the brick from the Parker Bros. gun works that burned to the ground several decades ago. Dave Suponski brought me to the site in the early winter of 2010 and as we were looking around the vacant lot Dave just happened to catch his toe on a brick.

After the fire the site was just cleaned up and leveled off with a dozer. IMHO there should be a bronze plaque there commemorating the history of that place.

Anyway, I'll bring the brick for the silent auction.
