Gentlemen
We currently have about 20+ really nice C grades being displayed for the Peoples Choice voting at the annual meeting. If you have not already, please let me know if you are going to bring one. We have chosen three very nice prizes:
1st place being one of Galazan's trunk cases with a commemorative plague.
If you have yet to commit to attend,do it now!!

David, the barrels on my CH Bernard gun are 30", LOP is 14 1/4" over the original SKBP and the drop is 3" exactly.

(just thought you might need those measurements for my case )

That does it. I don't need a plague, commemorative or otherwise.

Bruce-

You better come to the meeting this year. This years People's Choice is right up your alley and I have a sneaking suspicion that you could display a couple of nice ones that collectors might enjoy...

Banquet tickets are still available! Dont forget to reach out to Dave Suponski to get your tickets now.

Everyone has seen my C's before, and all the experts want a high percentage of case colors. Some of mine, including the little 20ga damascus with wood duck engraving, are pretty much silver patinaed frame. Others, such as the 16 Bernard, already won the award a couple years ago and has been shown around. I have the last C in the records, but it is a Rem gun. Although it is a light 12 with straight grip and it is one of my favorites, I know some collectors don't like Rem guns. I have them from almost first to last, but I have nothing new and haven't seen anything so compelling in the last few years that I have to have it. I'm still looking for another small ga. Bernard but I'd have to arm wrestle Charlie for it if one of us found it.

Charlie has a 20ga CHE damascus and a 28ga CHE Acme that are absolutely smashing and would get my vote for best guns. I sent him a 12ga from 1927 that is new and only missing the box. That's where you want to be.

So, I'll probably come if you want high grade guns to fill the table, but mine have been shown around, don't need a Galazan case, and don't really buy, sell or trade anything. I have enough to fill the plague, famine, war and pestilence categories.

I, for one, would like to see your Remington C and I know David has a Remington or two as well. And I like the Remington Parkers every bit as much as I like the Meriden Parkers.

It is not an option for you to not bring at least one of your great C grades!
I have only seen one of them and really like the Remington guns.Upon further consideration, a minimum of two is required and you are so ordered.

Why???.... What's more important that the Annual Meeting & Banquet???

Dave Suponski
07-22-2011, 06:38 PM
Dean, Dean...Nothing is more important than the annual meeting! I was just concerned that there may not be enough amber liquid in Louisville and the surrounding area if Mr. Anderson attended.......

Bill Murphy
07-22-2011, 06:47 PM
Owner presence required? No way. One year in Ohio, the 28 gauge was the theme. A trusted friend could not attend. He asked if I could display his cased DHE 28 gauge, beavertail, vent rib gun. With some convincing, I agreed. That gun had not been handled by so many hands and cheeks in its seventy year life as it was that one evening. Yup, bring the gun, owner or not.

Dean Romig
07-22-2011, 06:53 PM
I just checked Mapquest and it's only 245.90 miles from Louisville to Lynchburg so a shortage of amber fluid might not be so much of a problem after all.

Bill, please bring that 28 ga. DHE to Louisville - not for the People's Choice but so that I too, can put one more loving cheekprint on it and pretend it could be mine.

Whats more important than the annual meeting???? Well I'm glad you asked Mr. Dean Romig...It's called BIRD SEASON! A meeting during the season:nono:
Furthermore ANY organization that promotes guns and their use in the great outdoors that schedules a meeting during BIRD SEASON should have their calenders confiscated as it's readily apparent they arn't checking them:shock:
You enjoy your little meeting and drooling over guns that A) Arn't yours and B) Should be out in the field not resting on a table. I will be in the coverts with my Parkers (and one Holland & Holland) along with my bird hunting buddy Gunner doing what should be done during bird season and thats hunting birds.

After I get done hunting birds I'll relax in the comfort of a lumpy chair or couch and enjoy a fine cigar, a wee dram (ok 4 fingers) of the finest from Lynchburg and scratch Gunners ears.

Dean Romig

What bird season is open in Michigan in September? Certainly not grouse or woodcock - so don't tell me pen raised birds are more important :nono:

Wish I could be there with you Richard..
Are you shooting the 4E any?
Bill:cheers:

Eric Eis
07-22-2011, 10:09 PM
Yes Dean, opening of grouse season is the 15th of Sept. Oh and I know Rich will not enjoy a fine cigar in a lumpy chair in his house unless his better half is gone for at least month.:rotf:

Rich Anderson
07-22-2011, 10:22 PM
I'll be enjoying the fine cigar in Grouse camp either in the fine camp of our own Mr. Miles (Eric wouldn't know as he missed the season for the most part last year...oh and he goes to the meeting:nono:) or a camp in Grayling. Either way you enjoy your little meeting and I'll enjoy Grouse season:)

Bill I have been shooting the Ithaca. It needed a little trigger work done but I'll be using her again tomorrow. Its a fine gun and I'm enjoying shooting it.

One more thing there Deano If I had a choice of pen raised Pheasants or Quail for a weekend vs the meeting....well I just would hope the weather holds and I have enough shells:rotf:

Ahhh, for the cool days of fall. Came off the water at 11pm last night and the heat index was still around 100, which for Connecticut is highly unusual.

As to Birds in the field, problem is that I fear that if the heat does not break soon, every bird I find this fall will already look like it came out of a bucket of KFC. Our local weather man described it as another EZBake oven day.

As to the Annual, maybe. Would like to see all of those Grade 4s. Supposed to be doing some shooting in Ohio in September, but I think MD is en-route to Ohio.

You are quite welcome. I have been very fortunate to find some nice Parkers over the years and still more fortunate to have great friends who have helped and guided along the way.
The little damascus 20 came from Jack Puglisi, and before that, from the long time collection of Bill Wheeler. Jack suggested we look at several guns and was very fair in pricing. Jack is missed.
The Rem Parker 12 came from Herschel Chadick, who could not have been more accurate and straightforward in his dealings with me.

It does have some of the nicer Parker wood I have seen. Too bad it has a pad instead of the original skeleton butt. My guess a pad was put on sometime in the 1920's. I kept the old red and black sponge pad.

I obtained the gun about ten years ago from our British Columbia member Ron Granger.

This gun has a matching 16ga but I have never been able to find it.

Bruce Day
07-29-2011, 08:24 AM
One of two known. For the person who likes unusual details, this one is a 1910 gun but has the characteristics of one made about 1900, such as a thin comb nose and plain grip cap. Next, it has the 1905 soldered angled bolt plate without side channels.

All visible and hidden numbers match.

I am fortunate to own this gun and grateful to a long time friend for the opportunity.

Rich Anderson

Bruce whats the distance from the end of the top tang to the nose of the comb? It looks to be very short as is my CHE Bernard 16.

The most outrageous late Cs I have seen were displayed in Randy Shuman's shop. They were a consecutive numbered pair of 20 gauges cased in factory oak and leather. They seemed to be identical to the pair of A1 Specials known by those who have seen them as "The Yellow Guns", because of the very light colored English Walnut stocks. A recent owner of these guns made the ridiculous decision to refinish the stocks darker. The pair of late CHE 20 gauges was stocked in similar wood. Maybe they will show up at Louisville.

Bruce Day

I haven't seen those but I recall the blonde C triplets cased all three in a single Huey case and being sold by Bob Skeuse on consignment from ________. Its been a couple years since I saw them. They languished on sale for a long time at $75,000 asking. I don't recall who finally bought them. I think they were 16,20 and 28ga and identically stocked. Interesting guns.

The A-1S blonde twins are also quite interesting. I saw them once somewhere although I saw the C triplets several times. Like other blonde sisters, they would have been a wealthy man's diversion.

Bill Murphy
08-01-2011, 03:03 PM
Bruce, although all three sets we are discussing are probably factory originals, it is odd that the triplets are not cased in original oak and leather. Maybe they were cased from the factory as individual guns and a recent owner chose to case them together. I have not seen the triplets, but I believe BS also handled the A1 pair. A story Kevin McCormack and I may have told in the past is sitting down with a long time local friend of ours who originally outed the A1 pair many years ago. We were telling old war stories and this friend told one about once buying a pair of light wooded late A-1 Specials for $2500 and soon after, doubling his money to a Florida collector!! We tried to give him some recent ownership history on the guns, but he wasn't swallowing any of it. He thought we were pulling his leg.
