On behalf of the board of the PGCA, I regret to inform you that our community has suffered a great loss today. We mourn the passing of our dear friend, Mr. Jack Puglisi. Jack was a leading gun dealer and staunch supporter of our organization and he will be missed.

Jack was indeed very involved in bringing our beloved Parker guns to the forefront of the collecting arena, and was an avid collector himself. I never met Jack in person but have spoken with him on the phone. He was alway very kind and considerate. I read an article about him a few years ago, I believe in the Double Gun Journal, and it told abouth him expanding his shop and turning part of it into an apartment to accomodate visitors to his shop. To me, that says a lot about the man. He will be missed! My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones.

I had the honor of meeting two great people at the 2010 Las Vegas Show. Mr. Puglisi and Tom Selleck were both at the show and got to visit with both gentlemen. May he rest in peace.

I only met Jack once a few years ago when I visited his shop. He treated me as if we had known each other for years instead of only days. He will be missed by everyone who knew him and the entire double gun community.

There is no mistake.

Jack's mother passed away just days ago and the funeral was Wednesday. John text me just a few minutes after Jack passed last night.

Jack had been fighting Fibrosis of the lungs and was in the hospital for a couple weeks prior to him going to God. This is a tragic loss for those of us who called him friend as well as those of us who collect fine guns.

John Puglisi will be stepping into his dads shoes with regards to the Puglisi business and my prayers are with he and his family during a time when they have lost not only a father but a grandmother as well.

I met Jack in 1967 and we went to many gun shows together.( too many tales to tell)
I had moved to Duluth Minn. to attend UMD and met this bear of a man with many of the same interests.
I was fortunate enough to introduce him to George Flaim,and that friendship lasted until George passed away.
We talked a lot both in Duluth, and in the many years that followed we talked on the phone.
When I last saw Jack, he was getting better, and for some reason I told him I loved him,and I will always be grateful that I did.
He was bigger than life,yet a humble man, proud of his family and his friends.
I have been blessed to have known Jack these many years, and will miss him terribly.
On the other hand I know he and George are on the other side waiting patiently with all of our beloved dogs to go smash some targets before we shoot some of Gods ruffed grouse.
How fortunate I have been to be able to calkl Jack a friend.
Over the years Jack was able to pass the business on to his son John,and all of that great knowledge will be there waiting for your visit or phone call..................Jim Thynne

I think the first time I met Jack was at a Baltimore Show in the late sixties or early seventies. He was displaying that weird and wonderful eight gauge A1 Special upgrade. I had not seen upgrades at that time and was mystified by this gun. Back then, we weren't aware of steel barrel eights and this one had steel barrels. It was of good quality as I recall, and I have to think that it was built by George Flaim. It reappeared a few years ago, but I don't remember where. My best Jack Puglisi story was from a few years ago. I had replied to a comment on the internet about an item in Jack's inventory. Somehow, I made the mistake of telling the questioner that Jack's merchandise was not always priced on the low side. At about midnight that night, the phone rang. I answered and it was Jack. I asked if he was aware of the difference in time zones between DC and Duluth. He said he thought it was about midnight in DC. I settled down for a long conversation. That was Mr. Jack Puglisi.

My first encounter with Jack Puglisi was about 30 or 40 years ago. I was a young inexperienced shooter with a field worn 870 at a Duluth, Minnesota area sporting clays field. Jack was entertaining a well dressed prospective gun buyer. I was there by myself. As a stranger, Jack invited me to join his squad and treated me with the same courtesy and respect as his client. After our round, I cased my gun and walked to the clubhouse to pay for my round to find Mr. Puglisi had left after paying for my round as well.
I never forgot that generous gesture but I have visited the Puglisi store many times since. What a wonderful touch of class!

After coming down from the high country at Philmont , I picked up my emails and voice mails and found messages that Jack had died. Several of us including Steve, Mike, Charlie and I went to the Duluth Puglisi shoots, hung around at his shop and shows at other times and some bought guns from him. A complex and caring man, a good guy, and he will be missed. We have lost several of the old crowd recently, Jack and I were about the same age, and its hard to lose old acquaintances.
