Recently stepped out of my comfort zone and acquired a 4 digit serial number Scottish John Dickson boxlock 12 gauge. 29'' nitro steel barrels. 6.10 lbs. Cannot wait to shoot it but rotator cuff surgery on my right shoulder is putting that on hold for now:corn:

Steve, I'll take it out to South Dakota for you in January just to make sure it's shooting ok.

Steve, I'll be happy to shoot it for you and give you feedback. By the way I've had rotator cuff surgery. I feel your pain

Nice gun. I think you will enjoy this when you are able to shoot again. I shot
a borrowed Round Action Dickson this past week at clays here on Long Island. They are lively and are a pleasure to to shoot. We are going up to Pittsburg next week and plan to shoot at Green Mountain Good luck.

Green Mountain is my club. I am a little out of the loop in Pittsburg this year and have no idea how the bird numbers are but it was a decent spring so they should be ok. Good luck and have fun

Congrats on your purchase!

What this gun would be in a typical English A&D boxlock that was finished by Dickson as an economy offering. As opposed to their round body trigger plate action which they are famous for. I once owned a Daniel Fraser that was the same deal.

I own a Holland & Holland 16 ga Boxlock that falls in that category and it is a beautiful gun. I don't know the original maker but I took the gun down to clean and lube and it is the best finished internal of all the English boxlocks I own. All the makers had their method. Holland calls one line the Holland & Holland and the other H&H. They further break them down between guns they simply tuned and adjusted and guns they assembled. This class of guns, along with well tubed models from the better makers bring very minimal prices on relative basis yet are some of the best shooting and hunting guns I have ever owned.
