First Fox - 32" - Great for the field
First Parker - 32" (up until 2003) - Great for the castle

If and when I have to defend my "castle" I would prefer a little more firepower.

Not a problem here. The Parker is now a piece of art to enjoy on the castle wall. Inside the castle, firepower is measured in BTU's. Outside the castle, the moat spawns swarms of 100 pound mosquitos. They will take out anything :)

Here's a few 'skeeters. This is nearing sunset. What may appear like ground fog in the background is simply clouds of them. Without mesh clothing, not a very inviting location.

Dave: Here's a reason I accept Ma Nature's invitation, albeit, the bouncers she has at her door are numerous and annoying this time of year.
Cheers,
Jack

Okay, a couple miles from the mosquito clouds but still need protection. Ma Nature is the stunning entity for these images. Should have been here a bit earlier, as the light is fading enough to not capture the real show that had been.
Cheers,
Jack

Soo.... you're not buying that it is one of our 100 pound skeeters heading off for supper???
I keep playing with photoshop. Kinda hit and miss learning. That is actually a roadside sculpture attached to a telephone pole at a gas station at some no longer remembered location. It made me chuckle at the time, many years ago, so I took a couple pics. I searched it out for this thread and then played until it sorta looked like it was flying and not attached to a telephone pole. The truth is sometimes a bit boring compared to creative fiction.

She just sneezed here. If she decided to "huff and puff" the power line might not stand so tall.

On a "calm" day, the flags never droop. Most days, they snap like a locker room towel. This was a good blow.

OUCH!!! I remember those locker room "Rat tails" and the red welts they left on bare flesh!!
I've definitely heard the popping flags and tent flaps but most vivid of all are the flapping, popping sound of the hood of my parka while waiting on the Salisbury Flats in a January snow squall for ducks and geese to come screamin' in over the slough I was stationed on. The wind and icy snow caused my parka to sound like the frenzied wingbeats of a Loon on its long and lumbering take-off.
