Your great country was never an independent country, in the sense that it didn't depend on anyone or anything. It inherited slavery from its colonial past but became the brightest beacon of liberty and democracy and provided a new beginning for the huddled masses and dispossessed which made the United States of America strongest in generosity and resourcefulness in the world.

I stand corrected.

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

To all who have, are and will in the future, serve this great nation, to the first responders and volunteers across the nation who do what needs to be done through numerous organizations. On this day I say thank you.:)
