Relatively local gun shop had this D grade listed on their email. I have not seen the gun in person, but for $1,500 I thought it was worth the risk #101887. Lots of drop but oh well. Will order the letter shortly. Tell me I am not crazy please

You see lots of D grades with checkered cheeks, my DHE 16 has them, do the knowledgeable think they were original, or added later. I don't have the eye to tell (old eye doctor joke). A lot of drop, but I wouldn't have passed it up at that price, congrats on a nice pick up.

Happy with the purchase. Any ideas on the "Wilson Pigeon Model" badge on the comb of the stock? The gun still has an auto safety. Also any thoughts on how to clean the metal on the butt? I dont plan on doing much to it other than mild cleaning. Would like to shoot some geese with it this winter if I can find some #4s that would be appropriate.

Interesting, is that your gun? I am about to order the letter for this one, It would be interesting to see if it was a dealer add on

Yes, please let us know if the Research Letter lists where the gun was originally shipped.
No hits for 'Wilson Pigeon Model' in the Sporting Life archives.
There was a Wilson and Girod Hardware Store in Van Wert, Ohio
Wilson Hdw. in Boulder, CO that sold sporting goods
R.D. Wilson Hdw. in Port Angeles, Washington
Wilson Hdw. in Rochester, N.Y.
Wilson's Store in Bethesda
Wilson Sporting Goods in Chicago never sold firearms.

I will update, once I have the letter. It came from an estate on the Eastern shore of VA. 30" full/full #2 frame. If it could only talk. I am pulling for the Bethesda address
