Thanks to the PGCA for sponsoring the 8ga Field Event at the Southern for the second year, April 23rd to April 25th, 9am to 3pm, 50 targets. All makers are welcome.
Deep River has included the 8ga in the Dove Field Challenge which can be shot Wednesday April 22nd and 23rd.
Also, I have scheduled a 8ga 5 stand event Friday April 24th at 9:30am at the Dove Field, cash prize, 30 targets. All makers welcome.
This is a great opportunity to interact with a group of very knowledgable 8 gauge shooters. If you have ever considered joining in on the fun, it would be a good place to interact and ask questions about 8 ga guns and ammo. PM me if you have any questions. Craig Larter

What is the restriction on the weight of shot that the shooters can use?
I suspect there is a lot of recoil.
What weight would the 8 gauges weigh? I'm sure its far more than an 8-9 lb 12 ga gun.

Most folks shoot 1 1/2 ounces of shot . But I’ve never heard of any stipulation on charge weight . Of the ones I’ve owned they weighed anywhere from 13-16 pounds . Typically the larger the payload the more recoil . 1 1/2 ounces isn’t bad , 2 ounces I find rather stout .

Many thanks. Sounds like a hoot to shoot or watch. Black powder or smokeless or does it matter?

One or two folks may use black the rest smokeless .
