I’m looking at a gun with records that do not indicate Lyman sights. So it got me thinking, Are there any particular Parker “Tells” of factory Lyman sights? My question is more academic rather than expecting the sights on this gun are original. Thank you

Lyman mid-beads are very unique. Marbles did not make a bead of that size, so the 1/16" mid bead you often see on Parkers is very unlikely to be of any other make. I have several Parkers with mid-beads, and as they were fairly protected, are almost always original. The front beads were not always so lucky, but by their color, it's not hard to tell if they two are original. They were genuine ivory. If I am not mistaken, I believe I have seen them specified in PGCA letters, though off the top of my head, can't recall if any of my letters mention them.

The Lyman Gunsight Company is still located in Middlefield CT, Only one town away from Meriden, and only about 20 miles from Winchester, in New Haven. Consequently, they were called upon to supply the local gun trade, as well as the sportsman. Lyman sights were almost always supplied on Winchesters, and scopes, marked 'Winchester' were made by Lyman.
