1919 restored 12 gauge Trojan

My 1930 Trojan has brought me many happy days afield but is showing some wear. This was offered to me and I snapped it up for a backup. 28 inch barrels choked modified and full, just like my 1930, except this has 2 1/2” chambers. No claims made as to who did the restoration, but it appears well done and is very tight.

Had a chance to examine my 1926 vh 16 gauge that arrived at my FFL that is purported to be a Del Grego restoration. I must say, they are comparable, the 16 being a maybe a bit nicer. Is there any way to verify a Del Grego? Stamps on action or barrel flats? My understanding is if they were ever used, it was done inconsistently.

I’ve ordered a set of drivers and when they arrive I’ll take a look. Seen enough pictures of marred screw heads to not want to be responsible for another.

I have a 1917 Parker SC SBT that, according to my research letter, is stocked differently than how it left the factory. Chuck contacted me via email requesting pictures. He suggested that the restock was nicely done, speculating either Remington or Del Grego. He also instructed me to remove the trigger guard and look for an”R” stamped into the wood, denoting a restock by Remington. But no similar advice regarding how one might confirm a Del Grego restoration. Ordered the screwdriver set from Galazan and they are taking their sweet time getting here.

Screw drivers arrived yesterday so… took a few more pics. Nothing under the buttpad and the channel under the trigger guard tang has a matching s/n embossed in it.

I may be very wrong, but I thought that DelGrego sometimes marked only the stocks that he made not the ones he refinished.

My personal opinion is that if you haven’t turned a screw on a gun before with a hollow ground, I would not start on that gun. Is it that important at this particular time who did that work? It’s amazing what one buggered screw can do to value and perception…..
