What are the thoughts of the collective on the GHE 10-gauge 3 1/2-inch, 236214, that showed up on GI this week? No "Parker Bros." on the sides of the frame or "Parker" on the bottom. No "Overload Proved" stamps on the barrel flats and a P in circle barrel steel mark instead of the normal GH/GHE PS barrel steel mark?

It would be nice to see what the stamping on the rib, if any, looks like.

We are getting off topic of Steve’s initial post, but how often do you see guns that aren’t marked Parker or Parker Bros anywhere on the receiver? Best I can tell, that one is unmarked.

Those are considered transition guns. They were produced in the transition from Meriden to Remington.

I have a vh 410 with meriden barrels, but no markings on the action.

A bit ‘messed up’ IMO through negligence, again IMO.

A Grade-2 gun should be stamped PS for Parker Special steel.
Grade-1 guns would be stamped P for Parker steel.

And stamped 3 1/2” CHAM. I’ve never seen before on a factory set of barrels.

It looks like that 10g may even have a hinged front trigger. But I cannot tell for sure.

As Jeff says, those are transition guns, generally in the 234,000-236,000 range. Not unusual. My GHE 28, 236,4xx had the Meriden rib, and no Parker on receiver.

I have recorded plain ribs in the 238xxx range, but mostly Meriden marked ribs through the 239xxx range. Mostly plain ribs in the 240xxx range on up, but nothing
Parkerwise is always 100%.

Catalog says 2 7/8" chamber guns, in the nine pound range, 3 1/2" guns in the tens. I don't know what 3 1/2" barrels weigh. Maybe Destry can tell us what his 3 1/2" barrels are weight marked, or anyone who owns a legitimate 3 1/2" gun. The "P" mark is Parker Steel, not Parker Special Steel.

I'll reserve total judgement on GI's new format until I use it more but will say it now looks similar to other online gun sales sites. I'm thinking that basically all GI did was go from a portrait to a landscape format.

Will it be better--I'll wait & see.

Bill, these from a 34" 10 Ga 3 frame circa 1918. Requested weight was 9 3/4 to 10 pounds.

He is the only member I know of who has a legitimate 3 1/2" gun. Randy, I assume your gun does not letter as a 3 1/2" chamber gun. Strange things show up out there. I have a Damascus gun that actually letters as 3 1/2" chambers.

The legit late Remington era 3 1/2-inch 10-gauge on a 3-frame, 241233, shown in The Parker Story, has a barrel weight of 5 pounds 14 ounces.

The 3 1/2 inch chambered gun on GI does have a Parker Bros. Meriden Conn grip cap.
