I never thought I would do this but for the first time since the mid 70's I didn't fire a shot at the Pa State Shoot. Just went to buy reloading supplies. I'm pretty lucky living where I do, our prices are about the cheapest in the country.

These prices are from memory but are real close.

25# West Coast magnum shot $34.00
Remington Primers $139.95 per sleave
Winchester Primers $149.95
Fiochi and Rio primers less than above
Downrange Wads mostly $85 per case
Clay Dot powder $89 per 8lb
Promo cheaper than Clay Dot
Clays about $109 per 8lb
I think they were selling new Gun Club/Estates/Top Gun shells at the window for around $50.00 per flat.

Chuck, regardless of the component prices, the Gun Clubs and Top Guns for $50.00 is just wonderful. We get those great shells delivered from PA to our club for the same price at no shipping charge. We are blessed.

Yup you guy's live in a reloaders paradise. Almost all of the lead and reloading supplies we see here in CT. come from PA. Add shipping and there ya go! I was considering a trip to Pa. to buy lead and save on the lousy shipping cost's.

Chuck

Do you ever get into Trop gun shop in Elizabethtown or Shyda's in Lebanon? I've found that those two places have the best component prices in our area. Comparable to what you posted. Trop was running Top Guns for $48.00 a flat recently. Also, I picked up a few flats of STS's for $69.00 flat at Shyda's the last time I was in. With the $2.00 off a box rebate, it makes my favorite 12ga hulls quite reasonable.

Cheers

Mark,

I've bought at Trop's before but routinely at Shyda's or Richland Shooters Supply. BTW Brian Shyda won the state doubles championship on Friday. The two vendors at the state shoot are Gieser Guns in Sunbury and CAC from Ebensburg. I bought from CAC because they sell Downrange wads.

CAC delivers to us just 40 miles from the White House. They are great to deal with. Yes, we buy in quantity, but that has been no problem.

That is an excellent price on shot. Around here it's about $43 a bag. I'm surprised that Remington primers are less than Winchester. Clay Dot is a great powder. It makes a great load using 7/8 oz. At 1,250 fps at around 7,000 psi. May have to make a road trip to Pa.

Ed, can you give your reloading info for the 7/8 oz loads?

I bought the DR TGT 12 wads and Remington primers to try the 7/8 oz load they have on their web site. I have quite alot of RXP shells to use although I usually load only Federal components.

Per the Alliant web site
RXP hull
Rem primer
DR TGT 12 wad
7/8 oz shot
17 gr Clay Dot = 1200fps and 6490psi
17.5 = 1250fps and 6910psi
18.5 = 1310fps and 7770psi

Can't wait to try them

Chuck, What I use is right out off the Alliant website. Remington hull, CB0178 wad, 18 hrs Clay Dot. I use a Win primer, rather than a Remington. I spoke to Alliant about the substitution and they said no problem. Also, American Select and the Claybuster wad are a great low pressure combination. I've found you need to push American Select fast for a clean burn under a 7/8 oz load.
