I have been led to believe that the 28" Mod/full barrels on the 28 Gauge Parker Reproduction Barrels are too tightly choked for optimal shooting. What would you have these chokes opened up to for a better shooting experience? Thanks, Steve

I’d pattern them before I made any decisions Steve.

Dean beat me to the same statement.

Steve, I have heard that also and cannot answer your question, but I recommend you test your barrel's performance on a pattern board before modifying the chokes. You may find they work well enough. Otherwise, it is crucial to have modifications done by a skilled gunsmith familiar with chrome lined barrels.

Mine were the equivalent of F/XXF, basically…would have been an ok turkey gun. I brought it to Mr. Eyster just outside of Columbus, Ohio…ended up IM/F…ideally it would have been LM/IM based on how I use the gun, but that’s ok…I think it’s currently about .015/.024, from .025/.038…I use the gun for mid-season prairie grouse/huns and then some early season pheasant hunting in SD. I was charged around $350, and I was present during the work being done…very interesting process, very exacting work. I recommend Eyster.

I wouldn't touch them. Shoot it at clays for a while and have them measured.

I sent to Briley to have thin wall chokes
installed
They said they could but no,
not enough room so I had
them change to Skeet
And IC, I am super happy

I forget the actual factory constrictions on my 28" 28ga repro barrels but they were essentially extra tight and damned near closed. I shot them at the pattern board & thought to myself, "I might as well be shooting a rifle rather than a shotgun"

I had Mike Orlen open the constrictions to R-.005" L-.009" and couldn't be happier with them.
