There was some discussion a while back about a single barrel trap competition. Rick Hemmingway at Backwoods Quail Club has a trap field. If there is enough interest I will talk to him about including a single barrel trap competition in the October Fall Classic. I don't know if the Fox or Smith organizations would be interested. Cheers, Tom

Tom,

I would definitely be interested. There have to be a lot of high condition SBT's out there, especially since the lowest grade was a C - with the possible exception of two D grades. It would be great to see them as well as the others. If you get this set up, perhaps those having the "too high condition & too high grade to shoot" would bring them to the meet.

We were able to get 1.4 percent of the total production of Fox singles to the Northeastern Side by Side Shoot for display and demonstration. How many Parker singles would that be?

27 - more than enough to have a great competition.

Total = 1912*
A1: 4
AA: 1
A : 32
B : 96
C : 1779
D : 2 (possible)

It would be alot of fun to have a trap shoot off with these older guns. I would be there in a heart beat. I collect sbts, so I would have to make up my mind which one to shoot. I do shoot my Parkers the best. Thanks, Frank

Frank, what makes are included in your single barrel collection? I have only Ithaca, Parker, and Fox, but am looking for a high condition Lindner Daly in standard doll's head style.

I talked to Rick Hemmingway this morning about the single barrel trap shoot, and he wants to have it. I will talk to him again and get some rules established. Would we want it conducted the the same as the Challenge? That is shoot off to establish the 5 person team and then teams compete against each other or just shoot and the top 5 shooters make up the team.

I'll post a notice on the LC Smith and Fox forums and see if they have interest. Cheers, Tom

I also sent a message to the Lefever email address but I cannot find any contact information for Ithica. Does anyone know if there is an Ithica organization? Cheers,Tom

I have the nomal Sbts. 8 Ithacas from 4E to 7E (no Sousa yet) in Flues (best engraving, I think) and Knickbockers, Fox K model, Parker in SC & SB, 2 Charles Daly-Lindner Diamonds, 1 Charles Daly-Linder Empire, Baker, 6 Browning in all grades, James Purdey Sbt (2nd one built) and some I can't remember right now. Bill, I hope to see you at the fall s x s and we can talk about Sbts. I love them. Thanks, Frank

Frank, I just bought a nice Purdey double oak and leather trunk case for a double gun and a single. The serial numbers are 23,633 and 23,697. I don't know which one is the single barrel. How do they compare to your number? I didn't have a pair of Purdeys to put in it, but a 32" English trunk is so hard to find, I couldn't pass it up. I decided to case a nice Super Fox and a high condition J Grade in it. You can imagine how good they look.

The J. Purdey Sbt I have is #22429. I know what you mean about Purdey cases. I have a couple of older Purdeys and I wanted a the right years for the case to match the guns. I did it but it was not easy. 3 years of looking at alot of auctions and ads. Thanks, Frank
