I received my documentation for my gun from Parker Gun Collectors Association and it says it is an A#1 special. I am assuming that the # is just there to show it is an A number one special and nothing else. However, I had never seen the use of # used to describe an A1 Special. Any thoughts?

You are correct. Can you post the letter?

I have a friend who likes to say "you are majoring on the minors". You have a Grade 8 A-1 Special. Or is it A1 Special. Or A#1 Special? I am confused now.

I have also seen A No.1 S written but never stamped that way.

Either way it is: A Special 1

I have what looks like a hand typed Parker price list that includes the terminology "A number 1 grade"

It is all just semantics. Grade 8 hammerless.

I don't have one, but I'm looking.

A picture of the letter would be of great interest to all of us.

I was a bit confused about the A#1 Special but I guess that is just another way to say A1 Special. Here is a scan of the document. Fun to find things like this out. The oiled stock is a cool addition to what I have found out thanks to you on this site. Enjoy.

1926 Parker shotgun, A#1 Special, 12 gauge on a size 1 ½ frame,, Peerless barrels with a length of 30” and 2 5/8 chambers,. Capped pistol grip, #No. 8 grade, single trigger, 30-inch barrel, ejectors, 0iled stock serial number 217264

Here’s one of those instances where whom it was ordered by is missing… info just wasn’t available to Chuck.

I found A # 1 Special in a 1916 pocket catalog and didn't look in any other catalogs. Early AA grade guns were stamped just "A" on the water table but correctly stamped "7" for the number grade.

So difficult to find a A1Special. I regret selling mine years ago, but it is in a fine collection!

I was in your shop (Ivory Beads) around 2011 and you showed me a 20 ga. Parker and maybe it was an A1 special. You said you'd probably never sell it, but it would be a big number if you did. I can't exactly remember-maybe an AAHE.

Jim, it looks like you are the person I need to talk to.

Much to do about nothing. As Brian said, it's just semantics

I had a gun shop named Ivory Beads, we specialized in fine doubleguns!
