Hello everyone. Steve from Ohio. I just recently picked up a 1917 16 gauge VH with 28" barrels on a #1 frame. Seems to be choked IC/Full. I own a number of Foxes, LC Smiths, Syracuse Lefevers and a few Ithacas. Most of them being 16 and 20 gauge. I figured it was about time to add a Parker to the family. Balance is good and doesn't feel to heavy even with the #1 frame. Can't wait to get it out in the field.

Hey Steve I’m also in Ohio where are you located ? You’ve come to the right place for not just Parker information, folks on this site are side-by-side experts and willing to share knowledge. Your first stop should be joining the association.

We used to live in Minford Ohio. About 15 miles north of Portsmouth Ohio. Great grouse hunting there.

Welcome Steve, sounds like a great gun
My first Parker was a one frame 16 VH, accounted for hundreds of Ohio grouse. I'm
from Belmont County Ohio on the Ohio River. Where in the Buckeye state are you?

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I'm up in the northern part of the state about 35 miles southwest of Cleveland. Travel to Michigan a couple times a year for grouse and woodcock. Doesn't seem to be much for grouse in my old haunts in Noble County. Definitely easier just to head north.

Nope, not any real huntable population in Noble County, or really anywhere in Eastern Ohio. Like the old TV show. "Have Gun(Parker), Will Travel."

Steve, Please consider the fun little SASSS sxs shoot at Multi-Lakes conservation club in central MI in March. We always love new Parkers and welcome new shooters.
Congrats on the 16!!!

Use to occasionally hunt the Harrison and Fernwood State Forests and pick up a few birds but have not been back there in years.

I live about 25 minutes away from Hill n Dale but have not shot there before. I have two sons that have also picked up the side by side bug. I've got a number of really nice shotguns and they would rather shoot their Great Grandpas 16g Model B and Grandpas 16g Stevens 311. We usually shoot in the spring and summer in Michigan with the SASSS group. Great group that shares the same interest in vintage doubleguns.

Dean, my boys and I usually get to a few of the SASSS shoots each year. Always look forward to the Spring Classic in March. We also shot in Lewiston this year back in August.

Steve, I shoot some of the SASSS events too. I believe we may have met at one earlier this year. I usually shoot with Dean Hepp.
