I may have a few friends here?? Maybe.
So I thought I would give an update on my status. I came to Texas the very beginning of Sept, to hunt Doves with my 28 and 20 Repros. First hunt the longhorns chased me out. I was not about to argue with a 1500 pound animal with a set of horns of about 6 feet. A couple days later I thought I'd try again. I brought my Badboy Buggy down so I was going to use it. I put the ramp door down and started moving to the side door of the enclosed trailer, I caught my foot and went down hard and heard a very nasty sounding snap. I knew immediately I broke my hip. I was alone at the ranch so I had to fend for myself. I crawled to my vehicle and drove 40 miles to my little Colorado City home away from home.
Went to the emergency room in the small town's hospital. They sent me to Abilene for surgery. 19 days later I have been discharged and am sipping wine in my little C City house. Can't return to NY for a couple weeks.
Worst part, I only got 1 shot. The little 28 Repro choked Q1/Q2 got the game.

Hi Bob - that is the news we did not want to hear and I along with many other of your good friends here are glad you are on the mend and will be back at it, and soon.

Good that you didn't fall on your Parker and break part of that too. Our Brian Dudley could have helped there tho.

All the best - Bill.

Bob You realize it's still dove season in Texas.I'm sure you can get a wheeled chair and hit the fields again. And with the current immigration status in Texas probably round up "bird technician" for retrieving while in the field.
Wish you a speedy recovery.

Horrible. Get well soon. If you got a new hip out of it in a few weeks you should feel better than before the fracture.

I'm familiar with that snap. Heard it when I stepped off my front porch, hit the patch of ice, flew into the air and came down in a squatting position, landing on both feet. I looked down and my left foot was sideways at a right angle to my leg; not good. It didn't hurt when it happened but it sure as hell did when I moved it back to where it should be. A titanium plate and few screws later it's as good as new, although I do have a cankle now. Anyway, sorry for your malady and hope you're back up to speed soon!
