43-degrees this morning here in PA, the leaves are turning and thoughts get to hunting. Our grouse season starts in a few weeks and my 20 bore straight grip Sterlingworth has already moved up to the front of the safe. Her name is Vixen and she's a 1913 Fox who's served me well for many years. 28" tubes and bored Mod & I-Mod. I was out in the mountains today, checked the cabin and remembered this Red Letter scene on its steps ..... a daily limit of two birds taken nearby that morning. :)

Very nice looking Fox, , it must like you, it hits where you point it.

Here you go 6pt-Sitka.

It is a late 20" floorplated L-461 "Vixen" marked, one of my favorites for hiking in and calling predators.

I had a friend in Wayne County PA that’s no longer with us that hunted deer quite often with a Remington 600 in 222 . It was I think the first or second day of the season back around 2002 or 3 anyway I’d killed a decent 8 point that morning and I went with our group over to push the woods beside this man’s house . Our group consisted of me this guy his son his two nephews and two other guys . Anyway that morning he and his wife tagged a nice ten point and a nice nine point both using that 600 with factory loaded 50 grain stuff shot them both behind the shoulder . He was really happy he found part of the jackets in both deer . While the others pushed brush he and I drank beer in his den . They were big bodied bruiser bucks I’d have been skeptical to shoot them with it but those two weren’t !

I bought such a gun in January 1962. Sold it to Tommy Guns (bad memory just checked and it was B & B Guns, October 1998) of Pennsylvania a while before I left Virginia and retired to Washington State in October 2002. Receipt on a 1961 Firearms International catalog.

Dispatched a lot of Eastern Washington Rock Chucks and a few Badgers with it.
