I’ll be a nosy Nelly, was someone here the fortunate winner of the cabelas c grade straight grip with Bernard barrels for $750? I called right at open and they indicated it was sold within 10 minutes.

Not just nuts but BS. I was first to it and paid with my card. When I called the next day to confirm receipt of my FFL the manager got on the phone and told me that they would not send it to me since I am an FFL buying it. I went round and round with him the entire day and had a call into the store manager but had not heard from him.
Store manager called me today and said that he would ship it. I said that sucker is long gone by now.
Not sure what I am going to do with the factory letter on its way........

Since my curiosity is burning could you please reply back if the 15” LOP is original? It all looked good to me….

I found the gun, and someone got a deal of a lifetime most likely. The sad thing is that someone got way less than $750 when they sold or traded it to the Cabela's store.

The gun matches the serialization book and appears all original. What an unbelievable deal!!!

Wonder why the price was so low. Other Cabelas guns seem to be fairly expensive priced at or above market. Almost like it was a typo in pricing. someone forgot the '3' in $3,750 ?
Dylan Rhodes

Presumably an error. A big one. Based on history of cabelas pricing I would say they forgot a 9. 7499.99……
I did ask them if the price online was accurate and he said it was.

So, it was built with C and IC chokes? Is that not a bit odd for a 30 incher? Just asking 'cause I'm not as up on originality as many of you guys, and don't have access to the book(s).

Need the letter. It may or may not give info on chokes. If it doesn’t it’s pure speculation.

My 1886 Quality D 10 Gauge Lifter 32” two barrel set was ordered as follows:
Damascus choked “ to shoot close”.
The accompanying Laminated barrel set was “requested to be bored Cylinder”.
The chokes for the Damascus barrels were patterned “RH 200 pellets and LH 200 pellets of size 8 shot in a 24” circle at 45 yards.
The Laminated Steel barrels were documented at RH 125 pellets and LH 125 pellets in a 24”circle at 45 yards”.

Congrats!
I sometimes visit that Cabela's once a year but never found a once in a lifetime deal like that one.

I didn't get it, they refused to sell it to me when they realized I was an FFL buying it for myself.
Stings, total BS

No, its long gone. I caught it on Tuesday at the end of the day. Called Wednesday to confirm receipt of my FFL. Went round and round with the Gunroom manager all day. Had a call into the store manager but he didn't return my call until Friday. Said he'd ship it if it was still available. I told him it was no doubt long gone by then. I knew it was on Wed because I did just that. Called a friend to buy me it as soon as I had hung up the phone and it was already gone.

Just my opinion , but this whole deal seems so wrong , my guess is ,they had such a barrage of calls on it that the sales clerk decided he better run it past the store manager because it was so apparent they screwed up bad on the price ! By the time CJ78 contacted them about his FFL for shipping that was the best excuse they could come up with not to sell it to him ,stashed it away and eventually it will be up for sale again at another one of their stores but not even close to the $750.00 price they had on it ! Again ,just my opinion but I sure haven't ever figured out who or how they derive at their prices ! I'm to the point with them ,it's very seldom I even look at their web site !

They tell me they have a policy in place to prevent "resale". When I called the next day the gunroom manager got on the phone and asked if this was for "resale" or "collection". An 01 FFL is required to be "in the business" so the obvious answer is resale. That's when I was told I can not have it even though I intended to log it out to my personal collection. It's a nonsense policy. Interestingly I called their headquarters and they are not aware of any such corporate policy.

I hope you pursue this since corporate doesn't even know about such a policy. Whose business is it anyway to limit a sale. They posted a price [most likely a colossal screwup] and someone was willing to pay it. You would have to provide an FFL to ship it anyway unless you had it sent to a closer location.

My stock answer when someone is flim flammed by a business is "Well, who didn't know that?", or more relevant, "What did you expect?".

I was going to. The older I get, (closing in on half century) the more I realize if it's meant to be it will be. We had some big moves going on during this and that is what is important. In the end, these things we collect are just stuff.
I would have loved to add this to my meager collection. Ironically I decided that I no longer wanted any more 12 gauges! But, it's gone. I hope the membership keeps an eye out for it to maybe bring the story full circle. I am still waiting for the letter but I suspect it will list everything as is.
The only solace at this point would be if the barrels are too thin to shoot. I would have returned it as I don't own a gun I won't shoot.
Ironically, the store manager left me another voicemail today? He was re-iterating their "stance". I'm not so sure some frogs aren't getting a little warm. Not sure why he would call again.......

I find it comical they have a policy on resale when 95% of the time their prices aren’t on this planet with us. They are basically admitting that sometimes they don’t do their research properly, as that’s the only situation resale would come into play. Alas, the situation we have here.

One of a few things happened here.
1) Someone called immediately after Ryan did and offered much more for the gun. Like $2000 plus. And it wasn't me. I didn't see it.
2) One of the employees or one of the employee's friends wanted the gun, so they came up with this BS story about some policy that doesn't exist.
3) Another employee already sold the gun and to save face, rather than admit they made a mistake, they came up with this BS policy.
Depending on who at Cabela's is buying the gun, they take a wild ass guess as to what it's worth after looking at the on-line BlueBook and they make the seller an offer. At that low of a price, the employee has no management oversight. So, the buyer didn't know what they were buying and the seller didn't know what they were selling. The perfect storm of an incredibly low price. Probably a grand kid or a widow. It happens more often than you think.
There is one store in the chain that would not sell me any guns for about two years. The fool running the gun department said I had "something" going. He said he didn't know what, but that I had "something" going. Only after having a few other managers and a district manager stick up for me has the guy now decided to sell me guns. You're talking about a bunch of $15 an hour people here.
I will say that is one hell of a gun. The whole situation is too bad.
