RMC Orders

I am curious if anyone has recently received an order from Rocky Mountain Cartridge and how many months it took them to fill that order. I have been waiting 3 1/2 months for some shotgun cartridges and was hoping to have them for the fall season. They tell you not to ask about scheduling since they are running so far behind.

They had their major machine down for a good chunk of 2024. I received an order at the end of Feb/25 and maybe I ordered it in late summer or early fall of 24 when they were out of commission.

I would think they have been hammering away and chipped down at the wait . Well worth your spot in line in my opinion.

No and yes, and Yes and no. They are Hull only. RMC make full brass hulls and shells for reloading, which are turned from a block of brass. This is apposed to the other brass hull options of Magtech etc, which are extruded from brass.

Infinitely reloadable and also customizable for chamber and length at ordering. They sell a reloading kit available for their hulls that allows you to reload them at your kitchen table, in an hotel room while on a hunting trip etc . Olden days style with much better tolerances. A lot of the traditional Cowboy shooter types use them for authenticity during matches and shows.

I purchased them for several reasons. The first being that RST was not available in my beloved 16 ga for quite some time. Second they pair very well with our beloved vintage guns. Another major reason for the ease of reloading for a non reloader who does NOT want to dedicate a whole basement shop/bench to reloading. Mostly all reloading data works in them and they are true to gauge/cartridge size unlike the Magtechs, which run a little big on hull interior diameter.

A thing to know is they do fire form to the chamber of the gun they are used in, but you can reform them to an extent to another with the supplied tools or sending them back. I would suggest dedicating them to a specific gun. They can engrave their hulls for you with that favorite side by side’s name on them.

They are not cheap anymore I need to say, but my intended use is for hunting so I don’t need a box of 100. I enjoy the nostalgic feel and process they have in building and using them. Similar feeling and experience to being present when a paper hull is fired releasing that sweet intoxicating smell.

A while back, I was in the Hamburg, PA Cabela's, rooting around the closeout shelf. I found three boxes of ten RMC eight gauge brass. I have no idea how they got there, but I bought them for about fifteen bucks a box. I don't know what retail is on RMC eights, but it's not a price I would pay.

Thank you Dan for the information on delivery and your indepth reasoning for using them. I might add that modern wads work in these cartridges unlike the other brass brands. I also have ordered 20 gauge shells so I can finally shoot my hammer gun without piercing the primers of the Cheddite shells used by the makers of the low pressure shotgun shells. These do cost more in the beginning but once you add the cost of the low pressure shells (if you can find them) and the shipping to the western US, shooting the brass a few times will pay for themselves.

I have ordered various shells from RMC. They copied an original Parker 12B brass shell and made me 50 that I use. Without them, I would never have been able to shoot my early Parker Back Actions.

Who knew??
That would be really cool to shoot brass hulls, and a joy to collect the "brass" instead picking up the plastic hulls that have been flying around.
I think it would slow the sporting clays game down. Each shot would really mean something.

So, Clark, you need to forget about a Model 21 and find yourself a wonderful old Parker hammer gun. :whistle:

Believe it or not, I have an appointment set up with a guy in pa. Meeting him on our drive to the Northern SXS. He has a Parker hammer gun, last used by his father in the 70's.
He sent me some pictures taken by his health care aid. All I can tell is that it has hammers:)
