Well, my English setter is a climber. I have 1 /2 acer fenced in my back yard 4' but Daisy can climb over it at the gates and use the solid bar for over-the-top support. I added a 2' extension and that stopped that. My Gordon setter has dug and squeezed out und the fence a couple times. I added more posts and pins and stopped that for now. Just did not feel safe to go away and leave them alone in there. So, I decided I needed a good kennel to put them in when we go away for the afternoon or when we are at a car show all day. I started looking at kennels....wow they are pricy! Oh, I will just buy a small shed and add my 10x10 chain link kennel I already have. I stopped a local barn seller and spotted a kid's playhouse that was looking shabby. I know the oner well and we are friends, so I called about the playhouse. She said it was a repo, and I could have it for 500.00. I'll take it, when can you get it to my house. It was there in two days and cost 200.00 for the short trip. Yippee pups you have a new digs. It needed some work, so I got right at it. It was pink and white; the wood was all solid with no rot. It needed two windows and some fixing. I ordered two gallons of paint, white and green. It took me about a week to get it done, about 1100.00 total including the chain link kennel. Its 10x12 and has a man door on the back wall. Her are the pics.

WOW! A canine palace!
My first lab was an evil chewer and dug like a backhoe, could climb tall buildings in a heartbeat. We built our own kennels 6' tall and both runs 6' wide x 16' long with chain link "lids" on each side and center partition. I formed up 6" outside the chain link and swapped out with a customer in the concrete business. Went dove hunting on opening day and returned to a beautiful concrete slab with the posts and chain link cast into the concrete (he had a pour near me, had the crew there to finish, just bought a couple extra yards of concrete). This has served us well, dogs secure when we're gone to work, etc. After "Thistle" turned my first doghouse into a slum (she ate it), I built 3 aluminum doghouses. Still have them 39 years later. Has kept generations of dogs safe.
About a year ago had some posts rusting out so I poured a 6" curb all around with wash out holes in the rear enclosing the bottom of the posts and wire. Figure I'm good on kennels as long as I live here!
