Jeffs post of the parker auction gun made me think about this wrist break gun that i purchased. It was bound with thin copper wire and then soldered and actually was a very tight fix. So the person that did the quick fix probably used it for years. I know this is not a hammer gun but it is another example of wrist repair. Thomas

Thomas,
Very nice looking Lefever. I bought an old D.M. Lefever from a lady up the street. It was a higher grade gun with field scenes on both sides with dogs & fence lines. A spaniel portrait on the trigger gaurd and Krupp barrels. If I would have known the rarity then, I would have hung onto it. :banghead:
Thanks for sharing.

Best regards,

Jeff

Jeff: I think we have all done that at a younger age. I can remember back to a couple i should have kept but then i became a pack rat and keep just about anything gun related. Thomas

Buck Hamlin is the name I see most often when discussing Lefever repairs/restoration. I have seen some awesome wrist repairs and full restorations from his shop. Thomas, have you fired your Lefever yet? My 'G' Grade was also my first Damascus gun. Buck told me (with a chuckle) that the barrels would handle anything I stuck in them. I ran a box of Polywads through it and had a blast! I never thought much about buying and shooting a composite barreled gun, but now I am quite comfortable with the idea! If I had to choose between my RBL and my Lefever, I would take the Lefever for its balance, LOP, drop at the heel, and that neat rib. I love my Parkers, but they are 10 pound Lifters and in a different class than my Syracuse Lefever. Enjoy!

Mark: I have not got around to shooting my Lefever but i enjoy just looking at the gun. I have to many irons in the fire. I should probably just sell it to someone who will finish it and let them enjoy it. thomas

Pretty gun Thomas. Is this a straight grip?

Frank: It is a straight grip and other than the broken stock it is a great gun.I just love the dogs on these guns they are so real. Thomas

Have you thought of wrapping it in copper wire and soldering the ends?

Add me to the list if you ever decide to sell Thomas. That would be a nice project. I was going to send you a PM but Charlie already posted.

This is my Lefever D grade with ejectors and 30" Krupp steel barrels I am working on now. Dan May is fixing the stock that separated from the receiver and some cracks. This is the good side and the other showing the damage inside the stock

Presentation Grade, verified correct by Buck Hamlin.

Not mine, owned by a buddy.

Bruce, since my latest project gun is still in process, I think I'll hit the print button on that Lefever.

I prefer brass screws... adds a touch of elegance.
