Can someone look up the specifics of serial # 174873. Listed as 16ga. Trojan with 28-inch barrels, but no picture of the end of the barrels. Also, the gun has an alteration to the stock. It appears to be very well done, but I am wondering why it may have been altered and how it affects the value of the gun.

My guess on the stock alteration is it was done to raise the comb to more modern type shooting dimensions.
As far as value goes it's anyone's guess, but normally it would hurt the value, especially if it was a higher-grade gun.

David , if you go to our Home Page and go down the column you will find even though your Trojan is not listed in the book ,there are surviving Records for Serial #174873 so you could order a letter for the gun !

I am only considering buying the gun right now.

If the price were right, I would ignore the stock alteration.

The upper 1/3 of the stock is replaced. The ‘nose of the comb’ is all wrong and the checkering has been re-cut but, what the heck, it may be a good shooter… depending on the asking price.

$1500 is the price.

That is the price for an unaltered Trojan.

You would think so Dean, but I have yet to find a sub gauge Trojan in nice original condition in that price range.
