I have three 10 ga. guns and one of them is a grade L with 34 inch laminated steel barrels. The barrels are 9.7 lb and the ser. no is 46329. I believe this is probably not to common of gun. Please give me thoughts on this. Thanks Thomas L. Benson Sr.

Gary: It has a dog butt plate. It is also a hammer gun with a 5 frame and the barrels are massive. Thomas

your 10 ga barrels weigh more than my 8 ga barrels...i think the 8 s were 8 lbs and8 ounce...thomas you need to post us a picture of this gun im glad you have this monster 10...i think the no 5 frame and those heavy barrels were some ancient duck or goose hunters doings...be nice to know who ordered the gun this way...pretty neat i say... i believe you stirred up some interesting find..... charlie

I was hoping someone could see what lenth barrels it came from the factory with because even though these are 34 inch barrels they could have been longer and someone cut them. Thomas

Tom,
According to the serial # book your gun should have 34" barrels.

I hope the pictures are clear so you can read the grade and weight. the L grade has 9.7 barrels and you may not be able to read it but above that is a H. After removing the butt plate it has R B written in pencil on the wood. I was curious if someone knows who that might be. It has clean bores with surface rust on the exterior. It also has a small section of wood missing on stock next to trigger guard. thanks Thomas

If i'm reading the parker story right on page 268 grade 1 top action hammer guns with lam barrels it states that only 5 34 inch guns were made. WOW. If that is true then i wonder how many are left. Thomas

The 5 frames are pretty rare with any type of barrel.
I had a Laminated steel 34" gun for awhile. As you can see by the description below it had open chokes and was a nice sporting clays gun. This one is the only one listed in the book as a lifter grade 2. I sold it a few years ago and I think it is up to Traverse City on a fireplace mantle.
Parker Brothers, Grade 2 Hammer Lifter, 10 gauge, mfg 1879, 34” Laminated Steel bbls, IC/IC, Pistol (ball) grip, 3” chambers, Steel butt plate, splinter forearm, double trigger, barrels stamped 6^7, #3 frame, LOP 14 ½”, DAC 2 1/8”, DAH 3”, 10 lbs 8oz

Kurt: It sounds like a very interesting gun. Do you regret selling it. I wonder if someone on the forum has a 5 frame gun like the one i have and if they could post some pictures of it. Have a great day. Thomas

I realize it's a lot to ask but I would have liked to know how many 4 , 5 and 6 frame tens were made and of course barrel length as well as Grade would be nice to know .

Neither the Parker Story nor the records list the frame size as far as i know - so i think that is a never to be answered question - i am not sure where the number of five 5 frames originated

Yes I'm aware of that just wish they could have and I'm sure they would have if it were something available to them at the time .

He didn't actually say that he said "If i'm reading the parker story right on page 268 grade 1 top action hammer guns with lam barrels it states that only 5 34 inch guns were made. WOW. If that is true then i wonder how many are left. Thomas "

Yes, the Grade 3, #4 frame gun needs a PGCA letter. Parker made such guns for their contract shooters as well as the general hunting public.
