FFLs in Colorado

Many shops aren’t happy about internet competition.
I would prefer to deal with a well stocked shop, but Cabela’s is about as good as it gets here in Colorado, considering their network of stores and free shipping to your local store for inspection.

I thought you would contact the ones closest to you. Shop around. A transfer is a transfer.

It is a business. With transfers, there is nothing really in it for the receiving FFL except more paperwork for the ATF to gig them on during the next inspection.

Communists liberals in Virginia passed a law that ALL gun transfers must go through a FFL. But limited the fee that can be collected to $15! Just a pain in the butt for both citizens and businesses lose money for the time involved.

It could be worse. You could live in Colorado. Don’t even get me started on some of the legislation we have seen here.

I felt compelled to get a semiautomatic rifle here in Colorado before the new state laws of mandatory classes and some sort of annual registration takes effect. I have had many nice ones in the past but never kept them around. I never even dreamed about owning an AK before, but after some research on this “M77 Zastava” outfit, I was impressed with the simplicity of the action and the stout operating rod. You could use it for a nice “club”.
A decent one in .308 showed up on GB that was ten miles from here. The auction was due to end today, so I pulled into the gun shop parking lot awaiting for them to open. After thirty minutes of waiting while giving my dog lots of attention the open sign never went on. I walked up to the doors and the sign stated the store hours of operation and it also said “Permanently Closed”.
I came home and waited for the auction to wind down and placed my bid for the opening price of $1100. It will be mine after being shipped to my town, doing the paperwork and then waiting for the mandatory three day “cooling off” period.
I certainly didn’t need it but well perhaps I could. It comes with five magazines and a scope mount. Also bit of customization, a cheese grater forearm cover over the Russian Red wooden forearm. I have literally thousands of Lake City brass swept up from Fort Carson and a box of one thousand Nosler FMJ hollow point bullets somewhere around here.

Steven, I use Bristlecone Shooting in Lakewood near the Federal Center. They charge $25 for members and $50 for non-members, plus the state fee of $12.50. If that's a bit far for you to drive, I've also used Foundation Firearms a few blocks off I-25 in Loveland. Dont exactly recall their price, but $35 seems to ring a bell. Easier yet, just by pre-1898 guns and have them shipped to your door.:)

Foundation Firearms has shuttered their business location in Loveland permanently. My recent online purchase on Monday from Foundation was hand delivered today by Mike, the owner, to Liberty Arms in Fort Collins on Harmony Road.

Another consideration might be:

If it's an original Parker Bros. shotgun or another firearm you're after that is at least 50 years old and remains in its original unmodified state can be obtained and shipped directly to you by purchasing an FFL Curio & Relic License for just $30 without having to go through chasing down and paying a Type 01 Federal Firearms License holder to make the transfer. The FFL C&R License is good for 3 years.

I have a C&R. I live in NY and all firearms including muzzle loaders and antiques must go through a background check when the transaction takes place in NY. If I am out of NY and buy a gun that qualifies as a C&R, I use my C&R.
In NY all ammo purchases must go through a background check. I have heard many NY residents simply go across the border to PA.
The bottom line is the state politicians want all the FFL's to go out of business, gun control by any means possible.

They must get or give their cues from/to California. Same deal there, only worse. The people just go to Nevada, Arizona, Idaho or wherever and buy what they need to enjoy their legal shooting sports.

Oh I forgot to mention, a gun background check in western NY is normally about $50. God bless the FFLs that still offer the service.
