Hello Everyone,

I am excited to keep this tradition going. This Parker shoot will be on Saturday May 24th at 10AM at Peace Dale Shooting Preserve in South Kingstown, Rhode Island: https://www.pdshootingpreserve.com

This is a month later than we have done in the past, but I will be traveling in April. If the May date is better we will keep it going forward. Last year this shoot came together like I had always hoped. We'll do the main sporting clays course and they have 5-stand for later if anyone is interested. We will have a cookout after the shoot at the picnic area which has grills. Another thing I would like to continue is a Parker display so there will be tables(this was really nice last year!).

I would like to give them an estimate of the size of our group so please let me know if you can attend.

It is always so nice to see and meet PGCA members in person as well as new shooters. I have a few “new” Parkers to show off to some of you since last year, does anyone like damascus 28s? Hopefully, we will have some nice weather and a fun shoot!

Looking forward to it!
Jay

Is it OK for me to shoot my Iver Johnson 410 skeeter at this event

Jay Oliver

Allen, shoot whatever you want, especially a nice gun like that! We know you have Parkers….

This is a great chance for all of us to get together. I have shot both courses at PeaceDale with a .410 and always have fun. It always surprises me how well a .410 can shoot!

Hello Everyone, I am looking forward to this shoot and it looks like we are going to have some new shooters/guests this year. I will starting getting things organized and asking for some volunteer help(mostly on the food and refreshments).

Those of you driving a ways and planning on staying the night, let me know if I can help with hotel info. This shoot is not far from some of the nicest beaches, marinas, and restaurants in the Ocean State. Let me know if we should plan something the night before or after the shoot.

I am excited about the shoot and we follow up at the end of the week.

Hello Everyone,

I am looking forward to our shoot on the 24th. As far as what to bring for the cookout, I was thinking of getting some good burgers and hotdogs. That worked well last year, open to suggestions though. We do need:

Drinks(I will bring a big cooler)
Utensils, Napkins, Paper Plates
Maybes some Chips and side dishes
Cookies/Desert?

I am missing anything?

Can’t wait to see all of you. I know we will have a lot of fun. Please feel free to reach out to me directly if you have any questions.

Thanks and see you soon,
Jay

Always loved "Little Rhodie"! - I did a lot of local drinking water supply protection programs for EPA in the late 1970s-early 1980s for North Kingstown, Westerly, Charlestown, Chesprocott, Narragansett and Norwich. Met and got to know a lot of wonderful local citizen committee folks along the way.

Drove past the Peace Dale course many times but never stopped in to look at it. Should come up for this shoot but not sure our Nicholas Air charter trusts clearing Newark airspace control lately so probably would have to drive. No matter; always marvelled at the interior of the state with its lush farmlands and well-manicured homes. Good weather could make it happen! (A list of preferred hotels would help.).

Happy to help in anyway I can for this so please let me know any other questions. Here are the hotels in the area, I listed them in the order I prefer(for here):

Kevin, if you can make it you really should come up. It is a fun shoot on a nice course with a bunch of good folks. With Jay, Edgar, and a couple of the other Parker guys around some interesting hardware is usually brought out for inspection. Also, if you are staying overnight, Addieville is not far away, and Robin Hollow is agreat gun store to spend an hour or so in.

It looks like as of now there will be three of us traveling to RI next week. Kevin McCormack, Stan Hoover and myself. Is your clays course 100 or 50 targets?

Hi Daryl, This is great news! Looking forward to seeing you next Saturday. It's a 100 shot course.

Let me know when you get here. I know it will be a fun tine.

Hello Everyone,

We're less than a week away from the shoot. Ihave been looking forward to this and looking forward to inviting some new shooters this years(and every year going forward!).

I had listed our start time at 10, if possible it would be nice to get shooting a little early. Maybe 9:30 at the latest. There is another group using the recreation facilities in the afternoon so I was hoping we were cooking our lunch by 12. I don't think we'll be impacted as there is plenty of space, I just thought getting going a little earlier would be a good idea.

I am looking forward to displaying some Parkers for everyone to see. Please bring any gun you want to share or ask questions about. I have a few hammers guns I want to display along with my 28ga. damascus DH.

See you soon and please let me know if you have any questions.

Jay

Hello Everyone,

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. I will be there a little early setting things up. Would some one mind getting a box or two of coffee? That would be appreciate I think.

As I mentioned earlier, I would like to be shooting by 9:30 at the latest. So please be there by 9.

Can't wait to see everyone and talk(and shoot) Parkers!

What a wonderful day! The weather cooperated and we had a great shoot, visit and cookout.

Lots of Parkers and great company. I really had a lot of fun catching up with everyone. It’s always nice to see and try different Parkers. I did discover that I “need” a 30-inch 28 gauge.

Thanks for Clark and Beverly McCombe for bringing the best desert spread, which was just so good! Also, thanks Steve Wilson for taking some great pictures, including my black powder lifter shot with me breaking the clay :)

This was another reminder of how great our community is. Looking forward to shooting with you all again soon!

And to all who provided food, and Yes, the dessert was award worthy!

I’ll be adding a few pictures in a bit, we couldn’t have had a more pleasant day!

Jay, thanks again for organizing and hosting this event again. It was a great day with lots of fun targets and great food and companionship after the shoot. I almost wish you hadn't let me shoot that loooong legged 20 ga, it has created an itch I may have to scratch. And KUDOs to the three Musketeer's: Kevin, Stan and Daryl, for traveling up from their southern climes to join us for the day. It was great to see you guys. Also, the hardware that was displayed after the shoot was really special, with many great examples of the Parker Brothers best work. Not to be outdone, that H&H that Kevin brought out was an outstanding example of what they are capable of across the pond.
All in all a great day.

A little late to the comment party but I essentially have much the same reaction as the previous posters to the location, event, facility and the people involved. Jay did a yeoman's job of organization and cooking for the event, and the course is indeed inviting and occasionally challenging. The clubhouse facilities and amenities are among the nicest I've ever seen, and the staff was very low key and helpful in an understated way, always welcoming for a first-timer or a newbie.

I was glad to have made the trip, as it put me back 45 years or so in the same country that I did a lot of local drinking water protection work while at EPA. Then as now, the local people were great and on top of taking care of the vagaries of life, to include safe drinking water and a great place to shoot!

While I shot a rare and desireable Parker on the course, I wanted people to see an early example of one of the finest of the British gunmakers, H&H, especially Clarke McCombe, who recently posted about his and his lovely wife's trip to London and visits to Purdey and Holland & Holland. (The gun I displayed was an 1891 H&H Royal Grade 12 ga. 30" barrel driven game gun, straight grip, SFE, ejector, bored CYL and "light MOD" according to the factory record. I wanted whomever there to experience the dynamics and handling qualities of a British "Best" firsthand, and many took the opportunity, which was most gratifying for me.

It was a great event and a wonderful opportunity to shoot "away" from our familiar home courses after all these years and go up in New England. The attending personalities, the comaradrie, the food, and above all Beverly's outstanding dessert selection (better than most local bakeries I have been to lately!) helped to gild the experience. My thanks to all involved!

Hello, I am a new Parker owner and unfortunately I missed this event. I live very close to Peacedale and I didn't come across this post until after the event. I would love to attend next year.

Someone in another thread said that some of the RI locals would know a good gunsmith to inspect my Parker barrels. Any references or names would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
