This caught my eye, 16 gage D with 29inch Vulcan barrels. I had first thought that it was a mechanics special with cut 30" 16 ga Vulcan barrels fitted to a D frame but looking closely at the pics I am thinking 1: barrels dont look cut. 2: barrel lug indicates 2 frame (unusual for a 16) and I assume the 2 marked on the forend indicates that that this is the 2nd of 2 barrels made for this serial number. All hardware and serial numbers shown seem to match. Im thinking maybe this is a special order 16 ga barrels part of a 2 barrel set made for 12ga number No 128457 Must be a rare thing. thought I check with you guys.

Brent , If I am reading your description right ,128457 is this guns serial # ,It is listed as D " Damascus " #3 Grade " D " Grade , H ," Hammerless " C ," Capped Pistol Grip " 12 Ga , 28" Barrels ,w/ no extras ! I looked in the Parker Story under D Grade and guns made with " Other Types of Steel and Serial # 128457 isn't listed ! Best ; Russ

The gun in question is a great gun. All a buyer has to do is request a PGCA letter, which the seller chooses not to do. Get off your forty bucks. With a letter, the gun would be gone.

Im thinking that the vulcan barrels may have been a later request to replace or suppliment the original 12 ga. Dont know if they made many 16s in any grade on a 2 frame.

Brent, we have all been looking at this gun for awhile. If it letters with the replacement barrels, it is a rare gun, both in frame size and barrel length. Get a letter and make an offer for it.

I was tempted to take the risk and get the letter later. But Im saving the last of my mad money for a Montana fishing trip this summer. Thought maybe one of you guys would step up and give it a new home.
