I've run up on a VHE 28ga OO frame with 24" barrels that are NOT cut. She has had a TON of use but has original finish around 25% probably. Barrel tips are dinged at the muzzle(from metal floorboards probably), has an old deteriorated Red Head butt pad. No cracks but a HOLE in forearm just forward of rear that looks like it was dropped at eh major carrying point 90 years ago and the chunk knocked out eventually exposed the extractor levers. Probably 1'2"x1"(needs a new forearm). Mechanics seem solid as is lockup and screw. Protected faint case colors. Overall a good candidate for restoration? Or find another forearm and replace metal with serial. Either way, guy wants 2k as is. With the 24" barrels being legit(matting stops about 1/16-1/8" from tip of barrel) is it worth the gamble? Thanks.

Sounds like my kind of gun! I would buy it as you should have no problem getting your money out of it if you don’t like it.

My daughter found 99687, which was one of a pair, the other was 99686. Those two were the very first 24" 28ga Parker built. It was on an 0 frame. It was originally stocked as a PG, with a 13 1/2" LOP, but Allan Swanson sold me a straight stock, which Brian Dudley fitted. It's in the hands of another member now.
The chip out of the bottom of the fore end wood is frequently seen. It's VERY thin at that spot on small frame ejector guns. You don't need to replace your whole fore end, and that spot can be repaired easily by a good stock man.

I’m no expert but I would pay twice that for that gun it’s not like they turn up every day

24” barrels on a 28g are not unheard of.

From what I’ve read there were 38 produced with 24” barrel in 00 frame? Is that correct?

There is no way to break it down by frame size.

After verifying ejector operation and that everything else seems to function correctly, I purchased it. Once I get home from being on the road, I’m going to send off for the letter as soon as I get there and see what it has to say.
