Today we said goodbye to Daisy, our 12 year old Lab. She was a cancer survivor, but slowly developed an arthritic condition which was causing increasing pain and lack of mobility, so we had to do what was right for her, not us. Her tail never stopped wagging right up to the end.

Picked her up as a 10 week old puppy at Detroit Metro Airport after a flight from Britain. She was easily trained, and had over 200 retrieves on ducks, geese, grouse and pheasants. She took me to nice places.

Is another one in our future - no, unfortunately. At 80, I'm not able to start training a new pup

The decision - Do I keep her picture as my avatar? You're darned right.

I look forward to reuniting with her, Tartan, Curry and Abby when I cross the Rainbow Bridge

If there are any mistakes in this note, it's because my sight is a bit off right now

John, I am so sorry to hear this, I to had to put down my best buddy two years ago and I still feel the loss but I also remember so many great times in the woods. Take care and remember all of those good days afield

Very sorry to learn of your pup’s passing. FWIW, I bumped into a gentleman this past year running two dogs, one a pup. He told me he was 81. He looked better than I do on a good day.

Very sorry for your loss. What a great career Daisy had. Got to do upland and waterfowl! And thank you for that statement, "She took me to nice places." That's where our pups have taken us. Just never heard it stated that way.

I feel your pain John. I had to put two of my hunting buddies down this year 6 months apart.

So sorry for your loss John. The pain will get better but will never go away. We put our Springer Jasper down just about one year ago to the day.

Yeah, it still hurts but it does get a little better.

Sorry for your loss John. Hopefully all of our past pups greet Daisy on the other side of the rainbow bridge with wagging tails and her favorite ball or stick to chase.
