I am looking at an SC for sale that when opening the action, the ejector always trips, no matter if the trigger is pulled or not. What is the issue with this SBT and what might the repair be? Thanks.

Scott, I don’t know the answer but I had one that did that. And then one day it didn’t anymore. No idea why.

I’m sure it could be any number of things including but not limited to broken or worn parts, dirt, grease, powder or shot in there. For me the good thing is it does eject. I’d use it as an opportunity to pay a little less for the gun. I bought a 32” SC over a year ago and was immediately smitten with it and broke between 22 to 24 targets with it every time I shoot it after not having shot trap in years. I bought a 34” SC shortly after and absolutely love to shoot them.

With the gun cocked, remove the fore end and barrel, and confirm the ejector trip pin is protruding from the front of the receiver. Dry fire the gun, and confirm the trip pin is fully retracted. If the above is happening, the issue is in the fore end, and the ejector mechanism is fouled. If the pin is not extending from the front of the receiver, when cocked, suspect broken trip pin.

Thank you, Edgar! I will try that approach.
