As we've done the past few years, we'll have the Friday Night Feed in the pavilion approximately 4:30-5:00. Anyone that wants to attend is welcome. We ask that you bring a food item or beverage to share. Since David will be in Alaska with family on a fishing trip (he didn't schedule it) and Steve can't do the BBQ all by himself, I have an alternate source for the food. Greenley's will be bringing in BBQ chicken thighs, pulled pork and jalapeno poppers. David will be back with Steve in 2025 to fire up the smoker again. If you will attend please let me know what you will bringing. Vielen Danke!!

Nothing that is easily transported. I can bring a pot/pan and everything I need if someone local has a propane burner like a turkey fryer burner that would help.

Well my friend, you are always posting your culinary accomplishments here on the forum and you're feeding the boys at the shop, so it looks like you'll be cooking backstraps for us at the Meshoppen Meltdown. Thanks ahead of time.
Medium rare please.:):):)

Yes Dave. Near the water intake for the City of Toledo today in about 20 feet of water. Slow bite today but we ended up with 17 pounds before cleaning.

I won't be there for the feast, but I have a large, heavy duty propane burner with 12" diameter burner that should work. I plan on coming up Thursday some time. Just let me know if you want me to bring it. It attaches to a 20lb tank. I won't be leaving until Saturday pm.

I can bring deviled eggs as I did last year, seems like they were all devoured if memory serves correctly.
Let me know of I should be bringing anything else.

Don’t think I’ve ever had perch either , so look forward to trying them . My fish consumption is usually stripers , crappie , trout and catfish as far as what people caught . From the grocery store I like tuna , salmon , cod and mahi mahi . And of course we can’t leave out tuna sushi and sashimi !

Hey Mike,

How we lookin'? Anything specific you would like us to bring?

I was thinking of bringing deviled eggs also to supplement the ones Stan Hoover is bringing. More of a good thing is better.

Is there some refrigeration available there at the pavilion?

It being a Friday, will a plain, single color shirt be acceptable? It might mean going to the back of the line tho. I probably shouldn't have said this to give you ideas!

Deviled eggs will work! The more the merrier. They can be stored in the fridge in the lodge.

As for shirt, if you wanna get lei’d you need either Hawaiian or bowling. Anyone who gets a lei goes to the front of the line.

I'll take you up on that Craig. I'll see you this coming Thursday.

Tom K - I'll use Craig's. Save you some postage.

I couldn't keep a straight face about all this, so I mentioned to my wife about getting lei'd at Mike's. "Yeah, sure", she said so it looks like I'm all set. I can't wait.

About like 2 years ago when I started driving home from Ernie's, I gave her a call and said I'd be home in about 3 hours.

She said she would have a nice surprise for me when I got home but she wouldn't tell me what it was.

So ya kinda wonder what she has for me so no delays driving home.

She was right, she had a fresh baked rhubarb pie for me. What could be better. Rhubarb pie is my favorite. Boy, was I happy!

So yesterday I changed the front sight from silver to "ivory" and shot the Ithaca NID Double Trap gun today; she ended up high gun in our regular group of 8 shooters. All the other guys had modern competition over/unders and semis. :)

She's a 1930's Number (Grade) 4E with Number 5 checkering, 32", double triggers, vent rib. Has great sporting clays comb dimensions and 14-5/8" LOP over the hard buttplate. Mike latched on to her again today and reminded me of my promise of first dibs to him if I ever decide to sell. :)

Frank,

Forgive me if I asked this before, but does that Ithaca serial # begin with 454,xxx?? Or which year may that have been built?

Thanks,
Stan

P.S. Mike, I know it's not something that happens frequently, but you look pretty good holding that Ithaca:)

Frank Srebro
07-14-2024, 08:37 PM
Stan, the s/n is 4574xx. Slow sales during the Great Depression and with Ithaca doing serials in "blocks" for the special Vent Rib high top frames, I'm thinking she left the factory much later than might be indicated just by the serial number. She doesn't have cocking indicator pins and the Trap beavertail f/e is the newer "long style". Possibly shipment in the mid to late 1930's. My Cody membership has expired and if I renew it I'll get an Ithaca records readout.

Stan Hoover
07-14-2024, 09:11 PM
Ah,
I was typing without looking, sorry about that.

The grade 3 you acquired a few years prior was an earlier NID if I remember correctly, indicators and short BT, also with double triggers?

Frank Srebro
07-15-2024, 07:23 AM
Good memory Stan. I had a Number/Grade 3E Double Trap NID s/n 4337xx with the earlier shorter beavertail f/e, 32", Vent Rib and double triggers. It had a conventional high trap comb and 14" LOP over its Ithaca pad. Also cocking indicators. Stock comb a little too high and LOP a little short for me to shoot sporting and I didn't want to modify an all original gun ..... traded off. Just to elaborate on how Ithaca did blocks of serials for higher grade and special guns, along with the effect of the Great Depression on its sales, the Cody readout shows: Proofed for factory stock in February 1928 and shipped to customer in November 1936. Tough times and tight money.
