The scores during and to the end of qualifying ended up as dead even for both the L.C. Smith Collectors Association and the Parker Gun Collectors Association and then to be separated by only 4 points at the end of the Challenge clearly illustrates the extremely high level of shooting skill exhibited by both teams. Team LCSCA has shot superbly and until today's competition has bested Team Parker for the previous 3 years. Our hats are off to Team LCSCA for their fine sportsmanship and for taking good care of the Challenge Cup until today.

Mr. Parker would be proud. All these years, and sportsmen have not forgotten why they made them.

Just back from the NRA Convention. Older Gentlemen with a beat up old case was looking for someone who knew something about old shotguns. He had his grand dads old shotgun. Almost fell over when I opened the case and his squirrel gun was a 12ga LC Smith Crown Grade two barrel set. Fluid steel all matching numbers, unmolested. He had no idea it was anything special.

Deb and I just finished up the 11 hour drive from Sanford and the joy of having returned the cup to it's rightful place made that drive much more enjoyable than in the last couple of years. Hat's of to the LC Smith team who once again proved worthy opponents. A 40' x 40' tent was set up directly behind the challenge course and was home to 16 tables of Parkers and LC Smiths. Our display contained an amazing collection of long barred guns with outstanding provenance. These guns were all generously displayed by our members and the display was incredible. The weather was as good as it could possibly be with daytime highs in the mid 70's and no humidity. Many thanks to Mark Conrad who created and managed this event for eight years and I am glad he was able to go out a winner. It was again great to see so many friends from all over the country and I can now officially start the countdown to next years event.

Can anyone give us a roster of shooters for each team? Sorry I missed it.

Bill, we hope Linda's brother is doing well. Our hearts and prayers go out for those in Alabama and Mississippi and North Carolina who have lost so much. It is by the grace of folks like you - relatives, friends and neighbors that those who who have been stricken hardest are able to endure.

Thanks for the concern, Dean. I have truly never seen such destruction, even on TV. Of course, this is the "real United States", where everyone brings out their own equipment and gets to work immediately, on their own dime. I have never seen so many privately owned backhoes, dump trucks, and bobcats in operation at one time. We are home now, after three days in Trenton, Georgia, to a living room full of shotguns left behind.

Your close Scott, I would consider Steve Cobb, second row on the right and our leader Mark Conrad "good guys" also. Not exactly sure why Carl Brant is hiding way in the back? I'll have to see if his picture is up in our post office.

Shooting for LC Smith team I see Rees Day one of the owners of Antique and Modern Firearms as well as a life long friend Steve Black. Steve's father and mine went to Augusta Military Academy together. We have ridden horses and shot together all our lives. His dad received a field grad 16 gauge LS Smith about the same time my father received his 20 gauge Trojan. We are still shooting them.

Larry,

I'm too wide to fit on the side, too old to kneel down. Guess I'm not as tall as I though I was.

Carl.
