Looking for help deciphering these barrel markings for a friend. It certainly seems like a latter set of Remington barrels added to the gun. Thanks in advance.

AK3 is Remington's code indicating the gun was serviced in March of 1941.

The sunburst and the diamond with the circle inside are commonly seen inspectors' marks and the 570343 should have been the serial number, but it's not.

Dean, 57034 is the serial #. It was born a 10 gauge damascus gun and is now a 12 gauge fluid steel gun.

Aha!!

So, apparantly the service work done in 3/41 was to replace the original composite barrels with fluid steel barrels.

This leaves us to wonder what the 23 under the serial number stamp means...

And the large A just left of the weight stamp leaves us wondering too. If it was a Grade 4 gun we could surmise that A indicated Acme Steel but it's a Grade 3....
