I bought these from a guy not believing his story, but I thought I'd better check as Parker made a lot of non gun items. Any ideas on these? The flies are between two layers of glass. They willcome out with a little help. Thanks to anyone who can help. Jerry

The wooden stalks look like magazine plugs I have in some Remington 1100's

Thanks John! Now I know why people are buying those guns! The stems are actually plastic. No name on them that I can find though, and I can't find any info in the Parke book, so...I'm guessing they are not made by Parker. Jerry

Parker sold high quality flies, see PP's and TPS, but the way these are displayed is not correct to Parker flies, maybe it is something somebody dreamed up. I don't think a person can determine it was a Parker sold fly without the original packaging.
Somebody went to a lot of effort to come up with something so strange but we see the same thing in guns, don't we?

Definitely interesting stuff Jerry. It would be good to have better photos of the flies to be able to examine them more closely. It's hard to determine if they are early American made flies or some of the Japanese stuff that was coming here back in the 1960's. I'd like to see a nice close-up of the Royal Coachman especially. Some of the others appear to be a bit dilapidated though.

I'll take some close ups. They are neat old stuff though, just have to wonder why in the world they are displayed as they are! Pretty impracticall really. Jerry

Are the flies actually inside a magnifying glass type thing? I've seen something similar, without the fly of course, that was for lighting a pipe. You'd use the magnifying glass to focus sunlight to light the pipe and the other end was for tamping it down.

Yes, the flies are sandwiched between two pieces of glass. They don't magnify, straight glass pieces. Jerry
