I just saw where a Parker Bros. hammer gun sold on GB for $331. It was serial # 3960. That seems pretty cheap for such history and the gun looked to be mostly original to me. Did anyone here win it? Here is a link to the gun if anyone is interested.

You'll put your eye out
Wood needs some work but the barrels appear to be uncut and on-face. The bore condition and wall thickness is critical.

Of course it is not without a few little issues. But that is really a very honest gun for very little money.

No sign of frame cracks at the juncture of the water tables and standing breech.
Somebody got a great deal!!

The " sharp" dent in the barrels around picture 27 or so that appears almost puncture like had me concerned and is possibly why the bidding stopped where it did ! I bought one very similar years ago with the same type of dent and it had a pin hole in it ! If you shone a flashlight down the bore end of the barrel at night with the action closed you would get a pin hole ray of light right out the side of the barrel ! I carried it a couple of years before noticing it ,I always felt blessed !

Likely from an errant shot pellet from a neighboring duck blind.

An Army friend of mine was hunting flooded timber near Memphis. For some reason they set upon opposite sites of the pond. Birds dropped in, and my friend's brother shot at the ducks, forgetting that his bro was on the other side of the pond. Shots covered my friend, but the duck jacket covered everything except his hands. Net result - 8 or 9 pellets in the back of his hand, which he carried until his death last year. Many pellets in the shotgun stock, except where his hand was.

I can't believe it! I take off 10 days for some hand surgery, and completely missed this. I would have given twice that for a few of the parts it has which I need to complete three other projects.

The possible damage shown on picture 27 wouldn't keep me from shooting that gun. Such a deal.

I noticed that it was listed in the Black Powder rifles/Muzzle-loading rifles section. I'm sure that's why it sold for such a low price. It didn't come up in my normal search for Parker Bros.

You have to remember that GB is not as robust as Google. Searching in Double Shotguns or even Guns and Firearms doesn't yield the same result as Collectible Firearms. Additionally, searching for Parker Brothers doesn't at all give the same results as Parker. The Parker entry will turn up a lot of useless leads (parkerized) but many (most?) listings for these guns simply use the term Parker, not Parker Brothers. I just did a quick check putting the two different searches in and based on that, you miss the bulk of the Parker gun listings by searching on Parker Brothers. I search daily for "Parker" in both "Guns and Firearms" and "Collectible Firearms". It takes a lot longer to sift through, but you can examine the appropriate subheadings and get there.
If you don't do this, you will not see a huge number of the listings.
