I will be there with more guns to sell than to shoot. I will be posting them here in a few days. Otherwise, please stop by the BoWhoop field and say hi and make sure you stop by the Fox booth to get your free baloney sandwich to the first 50 visitors from that bon vivant Jeff aka "Steggy''. Have a safe trip and make sure you throw a Fox or Lefever in the vehicle for the challenge event.

I will be at Hausmann's all three days assisting Daryl at the BoWhoop. I also am coordinating a 8ga field shoot Friday at 9am. I don't have anything for sale but I will be picking up some sp-8's and sp-10's plus a couple of bottles of powder. I will have a Parker 8ga and a two Foxes.

I will be hanging around the BoWoop field, helping Daryl with those fun activities. With that in mind I will bring along my Fox J grade so I can make a couple of feeble attempts to break a clay on the Lettermen course. The J grade will also be available for those new to Fox shooters who may want to try out the Fox version of the SBT.
I will also bring along a Parker DHE and a Fox B, both 16 ga, for some fun shooting on the baby BoWoop. Besides that, I will also have a couple of guns for sale that I will post as we get closer to the event date.

Thanks for the reminder Don. I will have a couple of Fox guns, a smallbore 20 and a 12, for those who are non-believers, to shoot at the Baby and BoWhoop events and don't yet own an A.H. Fox. Cheap fun boys. And you 8ga junkies, load those roman- candle like rounds for some real testosterone laden targets. You're gonna need that 2oz. of shot.

Now why doesn't that surprise me Harry? It was a great series about dysfunctional, everyday people. Just like me and most of my friends.

I'll be shooting for the UDC again. At least 12, 16 and 20 Lefevers. Maybe the 10g too? The rest of my events will be Parkers. In it to win it. :corn:

Good news! Just got back from the Dr., OK to drive. I plan on being at Hausmann's Thursday, Friday, and Saturday assuming I don't break another bone! Of course, I'll be shooting the Bull, not the Gun:)

Seen today at Rock Mountain: three Lefevers working out with a Model 21, in prep to (hopefully) qualify for the Fox-Lefever Challenge at Hausmann's. I hate to say it here but the Big Red W was high gun today. The one 32" Lefever on the left needs a bit more practice. :)
Since posting I had two questions on the slip-on pads shown. They are made by Beartooth and I assume they can be found on-line.

Randy, if your asking about forms for the Fox/Lefever challenge I will be posting the rules here and on the Fox and Lefever forums shortly. Stayed tuned.
PS: I've got a number of Fox guns, long barreled 12's and 20's if you like to shoot for the best.

Daryl, I was actually just trying to get a handle on all the events so I could pack enough ammo. I can recall most of them but I am surely forgetting some.
Lou has the 34" Fox A grade returning it to its original configuration so we may have to chat about your available inventory :bigbye:

Randy, nobody shoots Fox guns in competition. They only shoot amongst themselves. (Letterman and Bo-Whoop). Shoot to qualify for Lefever. Nothing good comes out of Philthy!

And yes Harry, I'll be there, getting in Wed afternoon.

Mike , what are the top guys shooting out of a 100 birds. What is considered average, good, better and best ? I mean in sporting clays, not Trap.
Harry
Harry, in the double gun world the best shooters are in the 90-98 range consistently. I have shot with guys who posted 100/100 one time. It is rare. And I shoot with and have shot with very good shooters. I’ve only posted a 100/100 one time. 50/50 is obviously easier, but still a difficult task. All it takes is one bad mount, mistake in your move, blink at the wrong time, etc and the bird is lost. There too I’ve seen few 50/50 in competition. I’ve had more of those than 100s, but would still like more. There’s always those one or two birds that you have a brain-fart with. That’s why it is recommended, and here at The Rock if we have no trappers we require shooters to be out with a minimum size squad of 3 shooters. Four is better. That removes any doubt and improprieties when the cards are turned in. Shooting with our crew, you better have thick skin. If you don’t hit it, you don’t get it and abuse is doled out abundantly!! :rotf:
Mike Koneski

I’d say average here is mid 70’s to mid 80s. Better is that mid 80s to low 90s.
Lessons are always available……

Scores vary depending on couse difficulty. They can range from cup cakes to back breakers
Mike Koneski
05-25-2024, 04:50 PM
I do not comment on other courses targets, but on a whole I'd say the scores are lower at Ernie's.
Regarding John's "cupcakes' vs " backbreakers", I throw targets that are fair to everyone with a couple separator targets. Nothing to fast or far and plenty of window to see the targets. I like shooters beating themselves, not getting beat up by my targets.
There are some places that set targets to "beat" shooter X or Y or Z because the setter doesn't want him/her shooting a 100 straight. I set them to hit them and if you run the course, well done. This is our 19th year owning Rock Mountain and we've only had 3 scores of 100/100. We've had quite a few 100/100 in charity shoots with Mulligans, but those don't count.
